So all in all, are you happy with your choice of lights or do you wish you'd gone another route??

Unlike most, when I changed over to leds I did ramp up and down for a few hours but during the peak hours I ran them full blast. I strongly believe this is the only reason all the sps has kept its colors. If you are looking to switch to led I would recommand you instead of changing the intensity of the leds, do the same time period as your original lighting, do your sunraise and sunset as you wish but just hang'em higher around 18" awl then slowly bring'em down. I found that worked way better for me. Anyways, I am 100% satisfied with my AI, If you gave me a choice to do it again I know I will pick the same route even though I am a tech junkie which I think says alot for these lights. |
You should know me better than that! I ALWAYS destroy all evidence before coming home. Haha!

PAR READING
http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/...s/1d2023c4.jpg
HERE ARE THE PAR READINGS ON THE TANK, ALL THREE LEDS ARE ON 100%. FOR ALL YOU AI USERS IF THERE IS ANY SPECIAL REQUEST ON PAR READING PLEASE LET ME KNOW AS I WILL HAVE THE METER TILL THE END OF THE WEEKEND, WELL SO I PLAN TO ANYWAYS. |
how about a diagram of how the lights are mounted and how high they are mounted??
and I need a par reading in my tank too. so see you at my place tonight? LOL |
Quote:
I will recap, 9 ais mounted 8" AWL. I mounted them closer to the middle rather then the front and that's why on the front corner of the tank is only 140. Tank is 27 inches high and directly under the AI on the sandbed is 300 plus par. BTW what time you want me to come over? Dinner on you tonite I guess. |
It really surprised me on the top right corner blue stag taking up so much light. 950 in my mind is rather on the high side and for the brown stag with blue tips, some branches just to the right is still brownish but where its directly under the light is almost all baby blue. looks amazing.
BTW my AI's time table starts at 10am from 10% ramp up to 50% by 12pm, from 12 goes up to 80% at 1pm, 1pm to 5 pm is full blast at 100% then slowly ramp down to 11 pm for night mode. All lights are controlled by profilux. I do use cloud cover, coolest thing ever, but I do not use thunder storm since it scares the poop out of my fishes. |
Couple of new pics of the tank.

HELP TO IDENTIFY A SHRIMP
http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/...s/fd3b8110.jpg
Can some one help me identify what this shrimp is and why is he in my clam... |
I just found this online, so I guess the guy is okay. Safe shrimps and crabs:Symbiotic shrimp from the family Palaemondidae (Anchistus, Conchodytes and Paranchistus) or small crabs such as Pea Crabs of the family Pinnotheridae may be visible through the inhalant siphon in larger clams. These animals live inside the clam and do not harm it, although what they eat and what they do for the clam is unknown. |
Need some input on expensive wrasses!!!
So story goes like this...
I was at the local fish store and saw a nice looking wrasse, thinking nothing of it I asked for the price. $49 was the reply from a empolyee. I got it bagged up and started heading home. Just before I arrived home I got a call from the lfs telling me that wrasse was a rare rhomboid wrasse they had sold to me by mistake. Long story short, I took the fish back to the lfs. I did decide to do more research on that particular fish since I just been going on a wrasse binge. I realize how much I like this fish, but the issue is the price has increased tremendously to a whopping $599 for the pair. I can't say that I like the price but it is a nice pair of fish. So, question is should I or shouldn't I..... http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/...s/dbc1d85c.jpg |

I did just purchased a Hawaii flame wrasse thinking that is gonna be as nice as it gets, boy was I in for a surprise after seening the rhomboid. Anyways here are some pictures of this beauty.

So after a few times visiting JL and checking out the Rhomboid I just couldn't pull the trigger. Even though they are amazing fishes, it was just too rich for my blood. I was there when the guy picked them up, I was almost ready to wait for him outside and mug him. :twised:Just kidding!
On the other hand the tank is full of new sps frags thanks to the Victoria frag swap. It was so nice to meet other reefers whom share the same passion and love for this hobby of ours! Also like to thank Brad for putting all this together, your generosity won't be forgotten. Tank has been up and running close to 4 months now, I must say its looking better and better everyday. All the sps are growing rapidly I just wish I can take some better photos so I can show all you guys. I have been talking to a few canreefer about getting a setup but I just haven't made up my mind on how much I want to spend yet... Here are some pics of the new ultra clam I recently acquired. http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/...s/56f8e90e.jpg http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/...s/fa080385.jpg http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/...s/5e6fe442.jpg also a few nice frags http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/...s/1abe2bcf.jpg http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/...s/0b0517ed.jpg http://http://i1088.photobucket.com/...s/f5c5b72d.jpg |
