Well once the tank comes in and you need a hand getting it in, i dont mind helping just let me know. you do have alot of holes in there. question, if the old tank you couldnt get it out, how are you going to get the new one in?
|
I'm not sure I can explain it right.
The counter top comes within less then an 1/8" of the glass and the tank is counter sunk. The trim on the old tank sticks out farther then the gap I have so I can't raise the tank out. The new tank is being built a 1/2 smaller and with no trim. |
I would give some thought to your CL intakes being in the floor of the tank.. I made the mistake and was forced to use a pvc fitting to raise the intake strainer up off the floor as to avoid it sucking in sand and fine debris.
Other than that, the tank design looks great. Can't wait to see it! |
I have no choice but to put them in the bottom. I'll raise them up and hide them in a pillar.

nice to hear you've ordered

That seemed somewhat unnecessary. Taking out some aggression maybe

It was necessary. Even if I could have gotten it out in one piece It wasn't worth it to me to have to round up six/eight people to try and get it up the stairs and out the front door without damaging my freshly painted walls and brand new walnut floors. This tank was extremly over built and very heavy. The way I did it it took 12 buckets and they are sitting in the back of my truck right now, I did it myself and most importantly I did it without hurting anyone or damaging anything. |

I have to admit it was a little fun, I was VERY surprised at how hard I had to hit to get it to break. |
The new tank could be here as early as this weekend. It will be nice to move forward again.
I picked up a new 75 gallon tank to build the sump. I'm going to build it based on one from Melev's site. Usually I clean all my equipment in the sink in the main floor laundry room, including the skimmer cup. My wife has informed me I have cleaned my last skimmer cup upstairs, so I have been busy installing some cabinets and a sink in the storage room in the basement. |
if you are unhappy with your sump system I can build you a really nice sump for cheap.

Hello parker. i have enjoyed reading your post's along this thread and have even showed my wife some of the trials you have had to endure. I would like you to know that those complications that you have gone through has made my upgrade from a 90 to a 225 easyer to bear. I know in this hobby we must a one point an time just, " Pull our shirt down - lift our chin and carry on" and i do believe it's these hard times that make the good ones so much better.. So again thank you kindly for the thread and God bless you and yours..

Nope not talking to yourself at all... we're just waiting for something with water in it! Just kidding, I'm sure you're just as anxious as we are.

The tank is in earlier then I thought. I went and took a look at it today, I'm going to try and pick it up before the end of the week. ( Any volunteers for help )
In the meantime here is the set-up I built for my faux fish room. It's not actually connected to the tank in any way but it's a place in the basement I can use for tank related stuff instead of using the main floor facilities. The final tie-ins to the drain and supply weren't completed when I took this pic. I thought I'd post a picture because this is the cleanest it will ever be. http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/IMG_2172.jpg |
nice work area.
Where you getting the tank built? |
Looks like a sweet little area for tank related stuff.. wish I had one!
|
It's here! Now I have to get it into the basement.
