So how big are they, and where did they come from?

Joe Reefer 11-20-2007 04:13 PM

They are from BA. Picked them up a few weeks ago. They were in the prop tank for observation till sunday. I would say they are about 2".

Delphinus 11-20-2007 04:13 PM

Wow, nice fish. But wow, too, to the colours of your SPS man. Very nice!!!

Joe Reefer 11-25-2007 10:45 PM

This weekend a friend and I cleaned all the rock of algae and did a little redesign to the scape. What do you guys think?

Der_Iron_Chef 11-25-2007 10:50 PM

I think it looks GREAT. I love all your pinks/purples/reds.

Skimmerking 11-25-2007 10:58 PM

It looks like CRAP what are you doing sticking your hands in the tank.

love the aquascape Lando

Jason McK 11-25-2007 11:46 PM

WOW looks great

mark 11-26-2007 12:00 AM

I like it alot, with the gap gives that natural look the oregan reef tank is known for.

Delphinus 11-26-2007 04:06 AM

It looks awesome!

Joe Reefer 11-26-2007 01:28 PM

Thanks guys. Now the display is fixed up, I have found some new ambition towards some other maintenance thats been neglected over the past summer. Water changes whats that? Maybe I'll even do some water param tests.

mark 11-26-2007 02:48 PM

From the colours in the pictures, do you really want to be changing your routines?

Joe Reefer 11-26-2007 03:24 PM

Well I can't remember the last time I changed some water. That can't be good.

tang daddy 11-26-2007 04:36 PM

lando looks great do you use any dosing, I wanna see colours like that in my tank!

Doug 11-26-2007 05:00 PM

:D Agreed. Looks really good. Some very nice colours.

Skimmerking 11-26-2007 08:20 PM

I dont understand lando, what your saying is that you have been lacking the maintence in the tank and your tank looks awesome, me on the other hand, i do water changes and other testing and i cant get the tank looking right HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM weird

Joe Reefer 11-26-2007 08:44 PM

The tank was getting taken over by halimedia and some caulerpa. When all the work was done, there was almost a whole 5 gallon pail of algae.

Your tank looks fine to me, don't sweat the small stuff. Everyones tank has to find an equilibrium, and every tank has a different equilibrium. IMO you worry to much about the small things, and never stick with anything long enough to find out if its working or not. (Sorry that sounded kinda harsh, but it wasn't ment to be.)

Skimmerking 11-26-2007 09:26 PM

no not at all Lando good point, I tend to move around alot with this hobby it seems i can't fined that happy medium.

thanks for the points thou

Changed all my bulbs this week, I switched the actinics from actinic+ to pure actinic. No change on the MH though just new bulbs. One thing I have to say is..when just the actinics are on the colors sure are amazing. They are a little dimmer but the fluorescence is crazy compared to the actinic+. I cant figure out my camera when trying to take a pic with actinics. Here is couple shots before the MH turned off.

Chowder 01-21-2008 03:24 PM

Tank looks awsome Lando. Your getting great colour out of your SPS.

Joe Reefer 01-21-2008 05:31 PM

Thanks guys! I was asked for some fish room pics the other day. I will try and get some shots tonight.

Delphinus 01-21-2008 05:33 PM

The reds and pinks dominate! That's an awesome looking setup, can't get tired of looking at it. :)

Snappy 01-21-2008 06:31 PM

Wow Lando, big change since I was there last. Looks awesome!!! You have my vote as well. I see you got the basement finished. Nice job.

Joe Reefer 01-21-2008 06:41 PM

Thanks Greg, I don't think its TOTM worthy yet maybe someday though. The basement is 97.5% finished but it will probably take me a year to finish that 2.5%.

I have a bet then Lando i will have my basement redone and the new tank up and running by the time you have your rec room finished. oh ya love the tnak man looking really good lots of growth

lol

mike

Joe Reefer 01-21-2008 09:45 PM

I'll take that bet.

Only because that part of the reno is actually a 100% finished.

michika 01-22-2008 03:56 AM

Looks great, but I think someone is missing from your last photo. Where is your horse-like dog, he is the second best part about going to your place.

Do you dose anything?

Joe Reefer 01-22-2008 02:20 PM

No dosing per say. I run a calcium reactor and sometimes dose magnesium when required. I feed the tank oyster eggs once a week and the fish daily.

The moose-like dog (we changed his classification cause he grew more ) was sleeping upstairs when the pictures were taken.

rusty 01-22-2008 10:30 PM

Wow, looks a little nicer than mine right now!

Joe Reefer 01-29-2008 06:46 PM

Very Nice

Loved watching your system take shape. Looks awesome. I was told you couldnt have Triggers in with corals. So my question is this. Have the Triggers taken out any corals since the last update? Thanks:biggrin:

Joe Reefer 01-29-2008 07:36 PM

No problem with the triggers so far. I have also had niger trigger in this tank will no ill effects on the coral. It was however very hard on my stomatella snails. The blue throats don't seem to bother anything.
