small update......I bumped up the flow yet again....I added a tunze 6065......this puts the flow inside the tank @ 11150gph and 101xs turnover.....wooooooooooo!

What kind of sand can survive that onslaught man? Acans are purdy!

thanks Brett.....sand doesnt survive......V2 will probably end up being like V1.....V1 was a 50/50 split.....bare bottom up front and sand at the back:lol:......maybe I could get some of that cool colored gravel and sprinkle that up front:mrgreen:

they dont seem to mind to much....that being said they dont look as puffy as Jmes's cans....... I dont target feed my corals at all, so that could be a reason they dont extend as far as some acans.....I also have a favia in the big tank that seems to be doing well....probably something to do with their "low profile".....I used to have a massive frogspawn in V1 that I ended up having to sell because of my flow increases:sad:....

fishytime 01-14-2011 03:34 AM

New fishy for me!!!.... finally got my mystery wrasse.....now we are so happy we do the dance of joy*does little happy dance*.....Ive had him for a couple weeks.... he was placed in my tank via a covert operation....the fish came in while I was in E-town for a week....Mikey(Guappo) was taking care of my tank(tanks again mang!) and just so happened to pop into the shop right when the fish shipment came.....I had told Kevin that if the fish came in to call me and I would pick it up before it got acclimated to the fish system.....obviously with me in E-town that couldnt happen so Kevin sent the fish home with Mikey....the buggers didnt tell me about it, so I almost had two mystery wrasses.....Kevin had mentioned by PM that the wrasses were coming in, so I spent the whole week in Edmonton thinking about the wrasse I had waiting for me at the shop.....I was so excited that I stopped at the shop on the drive home from E-town to pick it up...the shop was closed so I let my self in and went to the clam tank(where I asked Kevin to put the wrasse) and it wasnt there....so I start looking around the shop and there is one in a different tank.....so, ok, there he is........I start to get the stuff together to net and bag him and I thought, maybe I should give Kev a call....so I call Kevin to get the scoop and he basically had to spill the beans and tell me that he and Mike had added my wrasse to my tank already.......whew...that was close.....I dont need two wrasses!

snapped a few pics while in the tank last night...

admittedly my wrasse pic taking skill are severely lacking......its quite hard to get good pics of my wrasse.....can never seem to get all of it in the shot, even though I dont have an overly large wrasse......it is one nice wrasse tho, if I do say so myself......:lol:

Can't blame a guy for trying:biggrin: I have the same thing going on with my valentini puffy, I suspect him for nipping at any blue clam and causing it injury enough that the Bristol worms move in and finish it off. He is now in the FOWLR as of a few hr ago.

How can I?.....you wont let me:razz::mrgreen:

after I lost the clam from the "little bastard",as he's not so affectionately been nic-named, I moved all the clams I could into the small tank(had to move a few acans in to the big tank)......I lost one of the clams I moved two days later, so that makes two confirmed kills for my "beauty".....the whole scenario has me thinking about plumbing in the cube I have sitting empty in my living room, like I originally planned...

Sorry to hear about the clams, that totally sucks.

But wow on the corals and a big huge double wow on the SuperRainbowMan Monti. If you ever decide that thing needs a 1/4" chunk taken out of it please let me know. :)

I'd like to stand directly behind Tony in that line! Not too close mind you...we need to set some boundaries but I'd really love to snag some of those! Looking awesome man.

Nebthet 01-26-2011 05:57 AM

Those are some super nice monti's you have there.
Major drool time.
That one is definitely a rainbow monti and not a superman, but it is gorgeous either way.

Lance 01-26-2011 05:04 PM

Nice looking Monti's Doug. When all those grow out you'll have to rename that tank from "V2" to "The Full Monty"

You know who to call if you need to part with another clam there Doug. The Crocea I just got from you is doing GREAT. And I would take clams of other colors to

I have 5 now but have lost several last year. Found out my Val puffer started to have a taste for clam but only enough to case injury so then the Bristol worms would move in and finish the job. Now any time I spot a Bristol worm out come the tweezers and out goes the worm. The last one injured by the puffer is recovering nicely, it's mantel is out 3 times more then it ever was.
