actually Laurier...thats not the "rainbow"(still not a true rainbow) the "rainbow" is in the small tank....the one you commented on is in the big tank and predominantly red.....interesting that the new heads are a different color, huh?

with the recent influx of clams Im starting to think that dosing the tank might be a good idea.....admittedly I havnt tested for a dang thing since the crash so I have no clue where my parameters are at ATM:redface:.....I figure I will start with some "zeo" food type additives(SP, CV, Xtra, AA) until I find the motivation to test the tank for the big three.....Im gonna start off slow with the zeo and gauge the tanks reaction to the increase in nutrients....

some recent shots from the little tank

this is my first chalice/enchino ever.... Fragd It has is Named "Ragin River" More orange to the eye than what the pic shows....

Octospawn that has finally turned that nice dark/neon green that it is supposed to be

and a few shot from the big tank

a yet unknown to me Aussie acro, starting to show its true colors
http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP4795.jpg

and a "sunset" monti that almost completely washed of all its orange when I first introduced it....another one that is starting to color back up
http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP4794.jpg

lorenz0 11-16-2010 04:52 AM

That is weird. from that photo the look semi like a rainbow. But nice sunset, might have to bug you about a frag of it later on

Myka 11-18-2010 08:43 PM

Hey Doug, you got an ID for this Acro I got off you awhile back? Want a frag back? :D

I fed the tanks last night and after doing so I was looking in the small tank hoping to get a glimpse of my blue assessor(darn wimpy hiding fish)when I spied another rare sight......one of my Pom Pom crabs.....and a Girly Pom Pom to boot....as evident from the large pink/red sack of eggs:surprise:....Im not sure how Pom Poms reproduce....whether there needs to be a male and a female present for the female to produce a clutch of eggs or if the females will produce eggs even with no male present???....might have to try and research that one....anyway I thought it was cool, so I took a few pics (sorry for the quality as the pics were taken through dirty glass:redface:

fishytime 12-09-2010 02:24 AM

heres a couple newbie zoabies.....

theses first ones I thought may be bam-bams but Im not so sure
http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP4826.jpg

Laurier was kind and generous enough to frag me off a few polyps of his "shockwave" zoas:biggrin:.... I had a frag before but lost them in the incident.....Thanks again mang!
http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP4828.jpg

an aussielicious un-identified sps frag
http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP4827.jpg

well, I have been dosing some of the zeo foods now for a couple weeks and wow!.....what a difference....things that seemed to be struggling are improving in color and Im now getting decent polyp exstention....I spose the next step will be to actually test the tank for the big three and get handle on that...heres a couple pics of some feeding lps....
http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP4823.jpg
http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP4822.jpg

and finnally, Laurie and I went to Seans to get the last of my clams(thanks again for being such a patient babysitter bud!).....we came home with a threesome:surprise:....would have been a foursome but one lovely didnt wanna leave Sean's:mrgreen:...
http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP4838.jpg

and a couple closer pics of my favorite of the trio(if I had to pick one:wink:)

I saw this on LA:

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._2945926_n.jpg

They call it an Aussie War Coral. Somewhere I saw it called favites. Is Favites and Favia the same thing? Is this pic of the same coral as ours? I hope so!

kien 12-16-2010 03:35 AM

nice score guys! def one of my favourite favias.

"aussie war" or if you want to call it by the cool designer name, "clash of the titans fav".....favites and favia are the same AND the pic is indeed what we have:wink:

Mine too! feel lucky to have scored a frag......that being said we got a huge one in at the shop just before Xmas.....it was the size of a dinner plate!:surprise:

couple fish updates......I realized that I never mentioned that I got a deep water coral beauty........like three months ago:redface:...................................... ....and I know what I said when I lost my powder brown................but Laurie made me do it!.......I added a powder blue two/three weeks ago............I know.........Im weak.......the thing that made me try again was this PB was at the shop for a couple weeks and he already settled in enough to come and pick at the hair on my arm while I was cleaning his tank......extremely rare that a tang settles in that quick in a lfs environment..... so far he is doing really well.....got my fingers crossed though....

heres a couple invert pics
