I actually only used 1/2" pvc, although if I were doing something on a grander scale like yourself I would probably go with a girthier pvc.....I do indeed have small holes drilled every couple inches to avoid any stagnant pockets (the holes also make for good attachment points)

Like how this pic turned out :) How you liking the tail spot ? I've always had a bi-color, but bought a tail spot from RC awhile back and now really like these guys almost as much. Things are still looking good Doug.

Looking good Doug! I'm really liking the 'scaping. I probably read it a few pages back but can't remember: Is all this rock from the other tank? Some new stuff? There's some very nice pieces there.

Thanks Lance....pretty much all of the rock that was in V1 is still in the system....if I didnt use it in the display it now lives in the sump.....there are a few new pieces that I scooped from work and used in the display....thats one of the benefits of working where I do....I can usually spend a few minutes shuffling through the new live rock shipments....one piece I took home for the re-scape is really cool....it is a near perfect figure of eight, about three inches thick and completely flat....its in the center of the tank atm, trying to become overrun with zoas......I think there is probably 100#s or so in the display and probably another 100#s of some pretty kick arse rock in the sump:mrgreen:

you can see the hunk o rock Im talking about in the 4th pic down, very bottom rock in the "terrace"....you can sortta see the dark shadows where the voids that create the "eight are.....

This sequence of pics is left to right, looking at the tank...

Lance 10-28-2010 02:51 AM

I do love how the sun coral/dendros look and I do have lots of shady areas, but......there is one thing about them.....they are rather high maintenance(you know....like some girlfriends).....I have a hard time sometimes remembering to feed the fish.....let alone spot feeding each head with a piece of mysis:redface:

lorenz0 10-29-2010 05:41 AM

oh I hear you. The second I saw them I needed at least one.

Have you considered blastos again? or will that be in the small tank again

The last surviving coral from the crash is my red and green blasto (there is literally a nub or two of flesh that is hanging on for dear life)....it is in the small tank and I would also like to replace the all red one I lost....

Llamarama 10-29-2010 06:43 AM

Looking good! Love the scape, wish I had more talent in aquascaping other than just piling the rocks up and hoping they look ok and don't fall over :p
