Thanks John......Im just fortunate and happy that I had the forsight to move them to a stable environment before the tank crashed.....at least something substantial from version 1 will make it back into V2...

but John....clams all start off small and then slowly get bigger as they age:wink:

Tank has been stable for a couple weeks now so I added the first of the new fish.......first was a small 2-2 1/2" yellow tang (to me, my tank just isnt my tank without a yellow tang)and second was a small juvinille chevron tang.....super stoked to get one while its still in its juvenille coloration.......the yellow still isnt eating mysis or Michikas blend but is fat with algae so Im not too worried about him yet.......the yellow gave the chevron a bit of a rude welcome, but that has calmed down and they seem to have accepted the fact that they are both living in the same space.....the chevron ate greedily for the first time yesterday so Im jazzed about that......V2 has fish!:multi:

christyf5 08-02-2010 02:51 AM

Woohoo! Congrats on the new fish. Chevrons are such neat looking fish but so damned hard to find

he was at the shop for three weeks! I talked myself in and out of taking him home for the entire time he was at the shop......Laurie harrassed me to the point I finally caved and took him home.....Im still slightly nervous about having put him in a tank that just crashed a month ago but.......

well its been 5 weeks since the move and one good thing about moving this tank to a basement is, my temp hasnt been above 80 the entire summer:biggrin:.....and those of you in Cowtown will know that its been an unusually warm humid summer for these parts...... plus, my evaporation is WAY down so Im making way less water.....the tank is still a bit hairy but nowhere near as bad as it was three weeks ago......I added whole whack of snails(big arse tiger stripe turbos, and a mix of astrea and trochus) and a seahare to try and give the tangs a hand knocking this bloom back.....the freebie sps frags that I got from Wes are still sitting on the frag rack waiting for less hairy real estate to inhabit...... a couple have retained their color but the others have browned out....no doubt due to the elevated nitrates the tank is at....brown is ok.....they can come back from brown.....theres not really a heck of alot in the tank to take pics of, but heres a few shots for you anyway Greenmaster:mrgreen:

what!....a nem?????......where??? *runs to get his de-neming equipment*......I think thats a ricordia your thinking about.....V2 will have a strict no nem policy.....ricordia are the closest thing to a nem that will make it back into the tank

kind of an interesting set of pics here.....I fed the tank the other night and one of my larger left handed hermit managed to get a large chunk of food....he was happily munching away when he was mugged by..........a couple nass snails....

Creeping on your thread is always good times!

Did you go back to Zeo with V.2?

I have to make a trip to the store one weekend you're working. We can shoot the...ah breeze...and you can tempt me with clams, tangs, and SPS. Deal? Good!

I believe Doug has decided that V2 will not contain any clams and he has since donated them to a fellow reefer.

ya.....um......I dont think so there guys:lol:.......oh, and hows the fishing going Sean?

Im finally becoming a little happier about the tank.....algae bloom has been knocked back with a massive CUC and the addition of the yellow and chevron tangs.....the rock isnt looking so bare anymore, thanks to $10 zoa frags and a couple sps frags.......I still havnt aquascaped the anti-pony tank yet but managed to replace the blue assessor, that was in that tank, that I lost in the crash....he seems to be loving the overstuffed, randomly thrown in rock work that he has atm.....Im gonna have to get motivated and get on scaping that tank one of these days:redface:.....also a couple new fishies found their way into the big tank......a shrimp type goby of some sort, who made his home right up front where I can actually see him on occasion.....the last goby I had, lived at the back of the tank and I saw him like once every few months(there was a great purchase:mrgreen:)......The second new fish is a tail spot blennie(or TSB, as Ive affectionately called him).....LOVE this fish, soooo much character.....

ok so enough rambling and on to the reef porn

Cute tailspot Doug! Since I lost my bicolor in the tank move somehow...well more like the tank SLIDE into the kitchen...I'm on the lookout for another but maybe I'll try one of these guys too.

xtreme 09-12-2010 04:43 PM

No luck fishing yet. Is that trap back at the shop yet? I'll probably move the clams down to the sump today until I get that little bugger out.

fishoholic 09-12-2010 10:04 PM

Looks good glad you got a good pic. of TSB.

I kept it in the 150 mixed reef tank. The same tank where over half my SPS collection died and the other half went south :). Isn't that crazy?? The red planet just kept trucking along as if nothing was going on. I was starting to suspect that maybe it was the cause of my SPS meltdown
