As mentioned previously today is cut off day and order was finalized with Jebao last night. They said that due to volume of pumps being ordered right now it may be about a week longer hen they said it would be. But order is in and i will let everyone know when they are on their way here.

Since Jebao has a bit of a delay and i ordered a bunch of extras i will leave promo code open for another week and at that point i will close all GB orders and sort out all the group shipping ect. If the extra week(ish) is going to be a problem for anyone please pm me and i can get you sorted out.

Thanks to all that have taken part.

Can you ballpark a delivery date or no?

banditpowdercoat 06-03-2013 08:32 PM

They had previously said 2 weeks and now they are saying 3. So, i am hoping they get them out somewhere inbetween the two times given. It looks to be 25th ish when they wil be here. But i will follow up in a week or so and see if things are on time/ahead/behind and update with a firm date at that point.

Trying to figure out if a 25 or 40 is best for my 50" 95 gallon...

nrosdal 06-03-2013 10:16 PM

I have a 48" and 1 dialed down mp40 is a lot. It also gives me super heavy flow on the one side but light on the other. When the 25s come i am going to try one small one (probably turned down as well) on either side and try to even my flow throughout.

Depends on what you have in tank i would imagine. As on my light flow side i have some lps that like not a tonne of flow and it seems ok except for i started sticking some sps on that side as well and now i am wanting it a bit more even throughout.

Hope that helps give you a point of reference to decide.

gobytron 06-03-2013 10:18 PM

So by your review, 1 is kind of inadequate...

I'd really need 2 of either to have good even flow like my tunze wave box gives me all across my tank?

nrosdal 06-03-2013 10:20 PM

I just wanted to give everyone in here a heads up that there is a giveaway for June orders happening HERE

And since these pumps are not being delivered until June i thought it would only be fair to add all GB people into the draw as an extra thanks for taking part.

Thanks again

if you turn either up i am sure that it will cover much more area. But with me having some soft tissue stuff i can't turn the power anywhere near all the way without my hammer corals looking like the tissue is going to tear.

I do know that there is a company that has a wp40 box that will be available soon(pending lawyer approval that it does not violate tunzes patent). So if what you want is a wavebox or if you are not worried about to much flow you could easily crank one mp40 up(or just not dial it down like i have) and have some serious flow. But that is something that you would have to decide based on what you have in your aquarium and what you are looking to accomplish with your purchase.

gobytron 06-03-2013 11:11 PM

Hmmm...
not so much concerned with quantity of flow, but quality....

Sounds like either way, with one unit you will have too much flow on one side and too little on the other, in varying degrees.

In the end it is a powerhead at a good price with some features that generally have only been available on higher end units.

These are available for you to use(or not use) if it suits your needs. If you want one and it suits your needs that is great. But if you buy one because it is cheap and it is not what you need, it is not saving you anything if it doesn't get used or does get used but is not the right type of unit for your particular application it is not saving you anything.

I have two wp40 on my tank on the back wall. I have them dialled right back as the undertow they create is freakishly strong. My tank is 42" wide, I think one would be enough, just my thought though.

haha, just wanted to make sure your expectations of it were reasonable as i am sure even though they are powerful and can make a wave.. i doubt it will provide the same movement type that a powerhead inside a wavebox can. :twised:

gobytron 06-04-2013 07:01 PM

think these have anything to do with ecotechs prices dropping?

Tn23 06-04-2013 10:20 PM

^ only the mp60 is dropping in price I think?

Doubt it. The $20-30 price drop on MP10s/40s wouldn't make much of a difference to a person deciding between a $380 MP-40 and a $100 WP-40.

You mean $480 for MP-40 not $380

It's more the timing than the dollar amount...
Just as these are starting to hit mass markets, a price drop of any kind might make someone go for quality over value.

nrosdal 06-05-2013 06:54 AM

another interesting turn of events has this becoming available (a very small quantity available in first batch).

Wow!
I'm guessing that the WP40 doesn't come with it

What quality? An orchestra of whining noise or premature failure of the wet or dry side. I beg to differ.

I'm thinking no.
There is no way I'd spend 5x the amount I need to now. I've had the wp40s in the tank for several weeks, hooked through my profilux running various setting, and I can say that these do everything that my tunze or mp40s did(yes I did in fact own both at one point).
Even if, and it's a "if" right now, because we don't know how long these could/ will last. I can buy a new, hell several new wp's to replace the ones I have now and still be ahead.
The fact that the "big players" are now finding excuses for lowering their pricing, just proves how expensive they were to begin with. A strong reduction in material costs?? Please.....
Just my 2cents

msjboy 06-05-2013 05:21 PM

Surprised no one attempted to make really cheap wavemakers that perform like Vortechs. The cost of the Vortechs are only maybe $10 ( less the tooling of course & R&D, Marketing); can't blame them for going to the high end and making lotsa money..they are also doing it with their Radions in terms of high pricing. They do have the patent to locate the mechanism outside the tank so naturally Jebao makes something like the appearance of a Tunze powerhead with the guts inside the tank.

Anyone still using sea swirls and eductors and such nozzles?

gobytron 06-06-2013 04:03 PM

Vortechs are wireless and take up far less real estate than even these new cheapies do...

They also have brand recognition.

Just sayin...

I am interested in getting one on a GVRD group buy for sure... when will the order go in? When does the payment have to be recieved?

And can you someone just confirm that this is a deal for $65 for the powerhead as well as the controller to adjust the wave intensity.

Thanks

H2o2 06-09-2013 04:15 AM

They come with the controller and a photo cell to add if you like so they go half speed at nite

Promo code will stop working as of tomorrow. Better hurry :)

What's the latest on eta?

nrosdal 06-10-2013 02:34 AM

should get an update this week and will post here when it happens.

icy.bing 06-16-2013 06:15 PM

updates? =D

nrosdal 06-17-2013 12:01 AM

The update i got from them last week was that pumps are still in production and might be up to a week later then expected. I will post here when i get an exact completion date and let you all know as soon as i hear anything.

On the bright side. I have been informed that all the units (wp25/wp40) will be completed with the new controllers. Which means they will have the built in speed controller. So, this means that most or probably all that ordered the variable power supply will not need them(unless they were ordered for an older unit you already have).

So, if all who would no longer want the variable power supply could please email me (not pm please) nick@reefsupplycanada.com. Please include your order # or if you don't know it just include your first/last name so i can find your order and i will do my best to get everyone who cancels that part of the order refunded this week.

Thanks all for your patience and the delay at least had a good part as if they had got on them right away we probably would not have gotten the new nifty controllers.

icy.bing 06-17-2013 12:14 AM

thanks for the update, and emailed.
