Got the tank in place: Tweaked the plumbing a bit and added support for the PVC http://i1304.photobucket.com/albums/...ps83ee4c87.jpg |

Update: Have started mixing salt. Since I don't have enough powerheads, I am also using the skimmer pump and the return pump. Working great :) http://i1304.photobucket.com/albums/...psef009f94.jpg |

Worst part of the hobby :twised:
http://i1304.photobucket.com/albums/...psc6fc3612.jpg Added sand and started running everything (put in some LR too) so that the water gets cleared up within today since I plan for the big day tomorrow :) |
A little trick I use when I add substrate which can result in the picture above is use a HOB filter for a couple days. Around the filter media fold over a paper towel and every 30 min - 1 hr change the paper towel out. Works like a charm and been doing it for years. I'd rather get the small fines out of the tank than just let it settle.
|
^^ Yup an Aquaclear with some fine filter media takes care of that pretty quick. Then you don't have residual crap left in your tank somewhere (skimmer, socks, sand etc.)
|
Same but diff I just put floss over bubble trap

I don't think its mainly because of the sand because last night when I went to bed after mixing the salt, the water was kinda clear but then after waking up in the morning, it was all cloudy. Probably because the temperature went above 80 or something. |

if you mixed the salt water in cold water then heated it up its prob salt residue , going from cold to warm tends to make it encrust or its the calcium in it going from cold to warm, either way a good scrape and some flow it will clear up quickly:) looking good brothar!! |
Tank has cleared up well :) So I am a bit confused about something. I have 30+ pound of LR (cured) sitting in a bucket and I will also be using 20+ lb of LR in my tank. Can I put the new LR in today and then put the old rocks tomorrow? And how long can I keep the corals in a bucket without any issue?
|
Much better now :) Hoping that it would clear up by the night so that I can do the move tomorrow.

A heater and a small power head will allow you lots of time. Just consider how long it takes to ship a coral from South Pacific to Canada. I imagine your transferring the tank in one day? One mistake I made on a previous transfer was that I put acros on frag rack while I should have taken them out before I system moving rock and sand. The ammonia and H2S killed all my deep waters. :( |

Removed the light from the 20 gallon and turned it on over the 70 gallon. Gives a much better spread :D But I doubt whether these will be enough for the corals. Possibly will add two more T5s ;) http://i1304.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9d900d4f.jpg |
Y not put the fish and coral in a tote until you get the rock in. That way there's no chance of dropping rock on coral or stress the fish more than needed.
Less clutter to work around too |
