 I didn't expect you to go IDing your shrimp, but thanks! Either way, hope they work out... and I just noticed that pic of the chalice frag... WOW! I need a chalice frag

I'm glad I did but now I need to try and find the other anemone shrimp as I didn't see them on wetwebmedia.
I found out it's most likely an acan even though it looks more like a chalice and from what I understand this one is very expensive in the USA.

noirsphynx 08-02-2009 04:09 PM

Not a happy reefer here.......I'm loosing yet another sps  I have no idea why all of a sudden I'm loosing things. I've lost a few frags(including one that cost me $50 ) and now a 2nd colony is affected. I'm almost considering selling what's left so that maybe they don't perish in my tank.

BlueAbyss 08-03-2009 08:36 AM

Have you been losing mostly SPS? Or have other corals also taken a downturn?

fishytime 08-03-2009 03:12 PM

You may be able to save the affected sps by crazy gluing the edge between the living and dead tissue....its worked for me a couple times.

Just my sps. I hope it stops. Could it be the recent outbreak of HA?

Thanks Doug, I'll try that.

sharuq1 08-05-2009 04:37 AM

You could also try heavily fragging the affected pieces. I tried the glue trick during an RTN/STN event and it didn't work, then I started fragging like mad and managed to save some. Best of luck.

Yeah, I already tried fragging like crazy well above the affected area and it didn't work.

noirsphynx 08-07-2009 02:42 AM

I added a Black Spiny Rock Urchin today to try and help with the algae problem. Thanks again Blue World Aquatics  http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/t...x/DSC_0055.jpg

noirsphynx 08-07-2009 04:05 AM

I also picked up some nice pieces of dry rock today which will be for a new cube I got for a smoking deal, thanks intarsiabox
http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/t...x/DSC_0056.jpg
The new cube is 24" x 24" x 20" and isn't drilled so I was thinking I might try turning it into an AIO. If anyone has any suggestions on how to set up the AIO compartments please feel free to advise :)

karazy 08-07-2009 04:25 AM

He's good, eating frozen mysis & silversides. The new tank is intended for him.

noirsphynx 08-14-2009 06:22 PM

So the death has seemed to finally stop but not until it took some nice (and not cheap) frags. I added another urchin because the spiny rock urchin isn't doing much of anything. The new one is a blue tuxedo and I can see some areas he's munched on so hopefully he does a better job.

I have some new zoa's & paly's coming. Can't wait to see them and I  they all arrive okay.

Purple Heart Zoa
Devil's Armor Paly
Emerald's On Fire Zoa
Silver Rose Zoa
Magian Paly
:woot:

I've found that Tuxedo's and Black Long Spine urchins to a good job chomping down the algae.. can't wait to see the new tank!

I hope they do a good job. My spiny one isn't a long spine though.

noirsphynx 08-16-2009 01:15 AM

:puppydog: One of my clowns committed suicide during the night.

subman 08-16-2009 01:40 AM

Thanks Jason. Now I need to find my lonely clown a buddy but I'm afraid someone will jump again. I'm going to move the clowns to the new tank once it's ready and it'll be covered.

sharuq1 08-17-2009 01:13 AM

Sorry to hear about your clown :(

So I received everything today but there was a mishap. I've never had corals shipped to my home before so I guess Fedex doesn't do overnight to my place. The package was handed off to a third party(canada post) and took 2 days to come. I was pretty anxious & nervous about what I'd find once they arrived. To my relief they're all okay. The only death was a freebie sps and there's possibly one other sps death. Pics to come soon.

noirsphynx 08-22-2009 04:09 AM

I'm so upset. I just went to feed the fishy's and wouldn't you know it, the other clown committed suicide :rip:  He was there before I left this morning so it happened while I was out shopping. No more clowns until the new tank is finished!

fishytime 08-22-2009 02:27 PM

Aw.....Im sorry Dawn:sad:

That sucks, sorry to hear

BTW I love the look of the tank and all the nice zoos. Also your frog fish is super cool, makes me want to set up a tank for one.

noirsphynx 08-22-2009 04:35 PM

Thanks Doug, Thanks Laurie. I haven't told my husband yet that the 2nd is a goner.......they were his fish.

I have a ton of zoa's. I just did a count and if I didn't miss anything I have 49 different zoa's/paly's(with more coming). No, I'm not addicted to them at all  They're all in my sump though because I want to do some rearranging since loosing so many sps. As soon as I do that I'll get a new fts.

noirsphynx 08-26-2009 01:21 AM

Received some more awesome new zoa's today........yes more  What can I say, I'm addicted:grab:. The ones received today are all deep water. I also have 2 new cyphastrea frags. Thanks Burc & Blue World Aquatics. Pics soon.

noirsphynx 09-03-2009 02:22 AM

Those are some nice percs and if I remember right did Ken say they were a proven pair? I'm wondering what I'm going to do with my little froggy. The new tank was going to be for him but it'll kill me to have just a frog tank and now I reeeaaally want to have one cube for the picasso's and one for the blacks soooooooo Mr. frog might need to find a new home.

BlueWorldAquatic 09-04-2009 03:43 PM

I'm glag you both are happy with the fish, alsways good to know they are going to a good home.
