Those ARE amazing. WOW.
Do you know anything about the wrecks? Ie., what ships were they and when were they sunk? The steel one doesn't really look that old to me. I assume the cannons are from something WAY older. And .. oh .. said it before but man the gorgonian diversity is amazing, love those seafans and seawhips. The brains too. Those Diploria brains look like ... well, real brains. It's too bad we can get frags of those in the hobby. Oh well, it's probably better that they be protected like that. |
Love the Sebae Anemones! And the Turtle shots wow.
You are getting really good at picture composition:painting: |
I'm not sure about the bay it's just down from the ship terminal. The 3 ships have only been there 5 years or so I would guess, they also had some things for snorkelers to check out in a bit shallower water. They just scattered some anchors and other stuff like the cannon in the bay to make a boring sandy bay into a interesting snorkeling/dive location loaded with life and fish.
Here are two shots before the second dive (nice and sunny), the two after the 60 minute dive (rainy) and some snorkelers arrived in that time. http://www.zld.ca/boating-diving/IMG_0535.JPG http://www.zld.ca/boating-diving/IMG_0536.JPG http://www.zld.ca/boating-diving/IMG_0670.JPG http://www.zld.ca/boating-diving/IMG_0671.JPG |

great inspiration!
thanks. |
Amazing pics!
Sounds like you go to the caribbean a lot! I go once a year or so. My fiance is from Trinidad and Tobago so we go down for family stuff but I try to dive in Tobago as much as possible. I would highly recommend Tobago (absolutely gorgeous--was the inspiration for Treasure Island) and Bucco Reef. As well as Nylon Pools. Both are protected reefs now and doing quite well. Bucco supposedly has the largest Brain coral (of its species) in the world. Its ridiculously big... If you go deep enough, we found Gorgonians near the drop off that were about 12' tall I would say. It was crazy. Bright red. Anyways, if you are ever planning another trip and want to consider going that far south, I can give you some ideas. My fiance and I actually just inherited a vacation house in Tobago that we may end up renting out. Its right near the water. We are also debating moving down there in a few years too once we are married  Keep the pics coming if you have more! I think they are great! |
AWESOME!!!!!!!

Well I went diving on Saturday and went with SeaDragon Charters out of Horseshoe Bay. We dove off Bowyer Island and Anvil Island and It turned out to be a outstanding day of diving.
The visibility was quite good, I'm guessing around 50 ft. The second dive I came across a seal at around 55 ft and it checked me out for a bit before taking off. That's the first good look I have had at a seal, usually they stay just far enough away that it's hard to see them in the murky water. On the way back to HSB we came across a giant pod of Pacific white-sided dolphins, they played in our wake for a bit as you will see. The first Dive was called The Canyons just off Bowyer Island and The second was called Christine Island witch is just a rock in front of Anvil Island. http://www.zld.ca/boating-diving/IMG_1998.jpg http://www.zld.ca/boating-diving/IMG_2000.jpg http://www.zld.ca/boating-diving/IMG_2003.jpg http://www.zld.ca/boating-diving/IMG_2035.jpg http://www.zld.ca/boating-diving/IMG_2014.jpg http://www.zld.ca/boating-diving/IMG_2021.jpg You can just make out some seals on the rocks if you use a magnifying glass  http://www.zld.ca/boating-diving/IMG_3703.jpg http://www.zld.ca/boating-diving/Anvil_Panorama.jpg http://www.zld.ca/boating-diving/IMG_3711.jpg http://www.zld.ca/boating-diving/IMG_3712.jpg http://www.zld.ca/boating-diving/IMG_3723.jpg http://www.zld.ca/boating-diving/IMG_3726.jpg http://www.zld.ca/boating-diving/IMG_3728.jpg VIDEO http://www.vimeo.com/10338872 http://www.vimeo.com/10339806 http://www.vimeo.com/10341211 . |

|
Cool pic.'s thanks for sharing
|
Just read the whole thread. Amazing pics. This should inspire others to dive.
Thanks |
Thanks everyone, they were a blast to take.
Treebeard - I don't know what it was, my computer needed a new battery, I borrowed one from the Boat and it didn't have the temp. Stumbling across the giant pod of Pacific white-sided dolphins was the icing on the cake after some great diving, the coolest part of them for me was when they go on their side to look up at us looking down at them. If you click on the video links it takes you to vimeo and I have about 10 videos their, my first time trying video. I don't know if I'll use this thread anymore, I started it a couple of years ago and have a few dive trips on it now. It takes too long to open since it's so large, a real PITA. |
Hi Bill
Cool pictures looks like a great day. Tom R |
great pics. Now I am concidering bilding a giant dome under water just above the reef coals in one of those worm water locations open bottom and a house on stilts in the middle. I think I could live down there right in the middle of the corals sharks and all I would not mind. now to figure out how to build that doom and house with out damaging any corals......
