Those are some beautiful zoo's you have there.
Now if any fall off the rock you will let me know right.

cprowler 06-18-2008 06:58 PM

Actually I will be fraging a bunch of the blue/orange ones tonight along with the caps, pm me if your interested.

cprowler 07-15-2008 04:26 AM

Not sure when but back when my D70 was not working I changed the sump/fuge, return pump, skimmer feed, ATO, and phosban rector feeds.

This pic is what I had before, A 40g long. You can see the float valve I had for ATO fed by my Kalk reactor. That's my old ASM G2 but my new skimmer was feed by a Mag 5 and my phosban reactors that were not in this shot were both fed by a MJ900.

A old shot of the mess it had become
http://www.zld.ca/reef/sc01.jpg

In these shots I took today you can see I now have a 75g and took out the fuge and baffles and now have a open sump. I could not keep any macro's alive in the fuge since using ReefResh and didn't like how the light from the fuge would grow coroline on the skimmer and other equipment so I took it out.

I plumbed in a manifold to get rid of all the pumps I had in the sump to feed the skimmer and PB reactors. The sump has a two inch bulkhead in the bottom right that feeds a Dart in the crawl space, then it comes up and feeds the manifold that feeds the tank, skimmer, PB reactors and soon to be Ozone reactor. I left two open ports on the manifold incase I want to add something later.

I'm off to siphon the detritus out of the sump that you can see and scrape the glass that I have neglected for a week.

Jason McK 07-15-2008 05:04 AM

Great Idea Bill. I love the manifold

When did you do all that

J

cprowler 07-15-2008 05:56 AM

It was after my D70 broke and before my D80 and SD55 so around February I guess, since I didn't have a working camera and didn't document it and now I forget. Some where in there, I have many more upgrades that I have to update here but I'm leaving town in the morning so it will have to wait some more.

fkshiu 07-15-2008 04:33 PM

Nice work on the manifold. I've always found them to be quite finicky. Adjusting one outlet always requires some re-adjusting of all the other ones - water will always choose the path of least resistance. Have you found this to be the case with yours?

cprowler 07-20-2008 05:49 PM

Sorry for the late reply fkshiu, I have been out of town for a few days. I have not found it to be a problem yet, I have the skimmer feed and the return feeds wide open and adjust the phosban reactors.

cprowler 08-11-2008 04:07 AM

Here is a FTS from a few minutes ago, MH's are off so just under T5's. It's not very good and the tank needs cleaning and pruning...but hey...it's the middle of August.

christyf5 08-11-2008 04:21 AM

WoW! Great colors! Those caps and that anemone are gorgeous

cprowler 12-17-2008 10:09 PM

I'm going to be moving the sump into the garage soon and start using a fuge again and also a frag/prop tank so I can keep the sandbed clear of frags. The biggest thing I'm not liking is I will have to loose my control panel but I guess I can have something similar in the garage.

Wow, so neat and tidy.. very well organized. All that monitoring equipment and controllers.. looks like your running some big heavy, high tech machine rather than a fish tank!

Yeah I like having everything handy and not having to trace wires to unplug something, I think it looks cool too.

fishytime 12-18-2008 05:04 AM

Your right it does look cool:cool: Awesome looking tank!

It is kinda large but unfortunately just some of the tips are thriving after the couple issues Ive had over the last year.

Just after I posted the end shot pic I took a look to see when my last post was....10 months....wow.

In that time I have had a couple issues, the auto top off going crazy and flooding the house and killing most of my sps colonies being the big one. So that's the big reason why I haven't posted much, who wants to post pics of that.

I've had a couple other life altering things happen to me in that time including the birth of our Daughter Mackenzie two weeks ago.

So anyway I'll see if I can muster up the courage to post pics of the carnage...it makes me sad.

I just plan the upgrade and that makes me feel better.

argan 10-14-2009 05:21 AM

upgrade already? to what size?

your tank is one of my top 3 faves on here, next to superfudge's tank and untamed's tank. i love the giant nem and the Macro algae and the caps.

also your dive pics are the best

Your far too kind...

It has been 4 years so I think I'm overdue for a upgrade , it will be a 180 or 220 most likely.

I'm working on get'n some new dive pics too.

Parker 10-14-2009 11:58 PM

I've always loved your tank, attentions paid to every detail.

cprowler 11-08-2009 09:41 PM

Well over the last few months I have been moving my sump and all the equipment out to the garage to a sump cabinet (I guess you would call it).

Display cabinet now, get'n ready for the upgrade.

http://www.zld.ca/reef/DSC_0016.jpg

The sump cabinet in the garage with lots still to finish.

http://www.zld.ca/reef/DSC_0021.jpg

Top left is my 50g water change tank.

To the right of that is my 50g refugium.

Top right is my 20g hospital/quarantine tank.

The frag tank will go middle left, you can see the 250w Aqua medic pendent.

The middle center has my GAC/GFO reactor & will have my RO/DI.

The middle right is my Manifold and control panel.

Bottom left is the 85g sump.

Each tank can be isolated with valves if needed.

I estimate that after the frag tank is up and running it will be just over 300g for the whole system

Jason McK 11-08-2009 09:58 PM

WOW that looks spectacular. Brilliantly clean setup

+1 I've always been super jealous that this tank is so tidy and organized AND the tank itself looks fantastic.

cprowler 11-09-2009 12:38 AM

Thanks, but you guys are far too kind.

I've been reluctant to post any pics since it's not done and looks...well...not done.

It's not Ideal having everything out in the garage but I think it's the best I can do with this tiny house. I would like to have a in-wall & fish room but it doesn't work in our 1500sf 2 bedroom rancher. Luckily we will be getting a bigger house in the next year or two. one thing I do like is cleaning the skimmer collection cup right out side the door to the right of the unit, I just hose it out. Water changes are great with the W/C tank, I isolate it, drain it, hose it out, drain and wipe clean, fill and mix salt, open valves to put in back online.

I siliconed my frag tank together today finally, so at least I got something done on it.

cprowler 11-09-2009 01:50 AM

Here is a pic of the frag tank.

I need to get some foam for under it.

I will water test it in the next few days.

http://www.zld.ca/reef/IMG_1314.jpg

SeaHorse_Fanatic 11-09-2009 02:50 AM

Psst. Painter's tape won't hold that tank together once you add in the water. According to Red Green, you need DUCT tape for that :wink:

Very clean looking system, CProwler.

Anthony

cprowler 11-09-2009 04:46 AM

Do you like the lighting for the tank?

That reminds me I have been acumulating equipment for this for over a year now.

250w pendant - SeaHorse_Fanatic
T5 lighting for Fuge - 04scoobysti
50g - Targa81
50g - Pansy-Paws
Sump - Denis (that reminds me I have to talk to him)
Skimmer - fastfish

untamed 11-09-2009 06:02 AM

Nice work! Looks like a good example of....think first...then do.

lastlight 11-09-2009 06:29 AM

Your tank and that new frag tank are gorgeous. That's also the biggest ball of chaeto I've ever seen! Must be podtropolis in that thing lol.

Love the whiteboard idea on your cabinet door. I'm going out and getting one for my waterchange cabinet now.

manaf 11-09-2009 08:33 AM

these pictures are awesom the growth of the tank is amazing!

Thanks Brad, but I wouldn't go that far. I think it's more...fixing mistakes from the past.

I also keep track of when I replaced different bulbs, changed filters in RO, Carbon, ....

The cheato is even bigger now, need to thin it out.
