i'm going to have to swing by for some zoas one of these days so i can see this in person. love the amount of awesome you've crammed in there.
|
Wow - your tank is absolutely gorgeous.

thanks guys

Tank is doing well , we added some more stuff over Xmas mainly inverts but some corals as well :) we still have more inverts to add But we're running out of room the rest of the tank will most likely be filled with zoanthids here and there.
Here is where we roughly are now for tanks inhabitants :) Current Livestock list for tank Inverts: 4 x cleaner shrimp 1 x blood shrimp 1 x Pom Pom crab 1 x anemone shrimp 20 x blue leg hermits 1 x emerald crab 6 x feather dusters 1 x Halloween hermit 1 x large sebae anemone 3 x maxima clams 1 x squamosa clam 1 x green and white rock flower anemone 1 x tube anemone 1 x fromia starfish Corals Dragon soul welshyllia Orange setosa Numerous zoanthids Neon octospawn Neon wall hammers x 2 Misc photosynthetic gorgonians Florida ricordias (est 100) Orange leptastrea Misc acros Aussie Duncan's None green bubble coral Warpaint Aussie scoly Australian ultra lobos Indo orange lobos Red mushrooms Misc chalices Misc favias Green and purple blastomussa 4 heads fathead dendro 1 head rhizo 1 multicolor Yuma mushroom White tipped toadstool Yellow Fiji leather Golden scroll coral Misc acans Orange cloves Pulsing Xenia Fish list Pair of Trojan Picasso clownfish Mated trio of adult pajama cardinals Citron goby Tailspot blenny We made a Video last night of the tank and will post it next as well as some new pics in the next little bit:) |
Here is a video of the tank that we took last night , this is just off our cell but will have to do :)
Enjoy!! Video here : https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=llvlKZcayzg |
that looks so naturally lit it's awesome. i'd never guess this was a new setup it's got a rich, mature look already.
love the euphyllia pile and the floating scoly. must also be nice to have the world's most hyperactive cardinal  |
MMMM floating scollies:hail:

Looks pretty cool. Does it smell though?

But the verdict is it doesn't :) One major design flaw on my part though , corals at waters surface look cool but only until your return pump dies while your at work xmas eve , corals were in the air all day we didn't lose anything really but did get me to think about getting the controller hooked up to it. |

And I thought my tank was overcrowded. Based on today's pics, I can double my corals and still be okay. Good to know.
Looks totally awesome, btw. Anthony |

We are trying to group corals based on knowing how they act and grow , for example the scoly and lobos only have feeders on the large polyp and are small at less than an inch , it would take a few years for these pieces to grow into each other and the feeders currently only have access to the bottom or skeleton of the piece above it . I worry about the bubble as it almost touches the scoly but I only had the bubble fight with it the first day it was in , since then it doesn't see it as a threat most likely because of the angle and flow direction , this will likely change as the bubble grows large and fast though so at any given time the scoly can come off its glue and small tower. We're going to fill in the gaps tonight with zoanthids and then we want to finish off the stand skirting And doser shelf in the next couple of weeks . Got some good news last night as I noticed that the pink lemonade acro has covered its base and colors are almost back , this is the first real signs of improvement since dosing too much Alk thinking it was vinegar so I may add back more sps , right now it's only a couple acros and a montipora setosa in there the rest are patiently waiting and healing in the frag tank lol Also finally got confirmation that our Pom Pom crab is still alive and doing well found it's cave last night Under a chalice and until now she's remained pretty elusive lol even snapped a blurry pic lol Happy new years everyone!!! Denny and Ruth :) |
Awesome looking tank guys. I can't wait to be able to start stocking ours lol. And thanks for all the help so far Denny and the rest of the guys from concept.

Great job guys.. sooo jealous :)

little late on the update but here goes:)
over the last while we added a bunch more inverts so our list now includes cleaner shrimps(6), anemone crabs(2), anemone shrimp(3) , harlequin serpent star(1) , fromia sea star(1), candy pistol shrimp(1) , blue legged hermits(20) , emerald crabs(1) ,halloween hermit(1) , pom pom crab(1)....plus more im sure im forgetting lol the problem was though as nice as it is having shrimps running around with no fear of predators they were picking on the clams and just about anything else that moves lol we dealt with this for a while but the clams were getting worse so...... enter the guard dogs!!! we added a full grown pair of scott's fairy wrasses http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...psxdpydzij.jpg http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...pscsxcci4o.jpg http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8lrav1ei.jpg so now the shrimp are in hiding...caves, ledges etc. not as active but the reef overall appreciates it and these two seem to show no interest in the shrimps and are the show fish of the tank (damn costly lol) we added a large sebae anemone a while ago but was hit or miss one day it would attach the next it wouldn't , after killing the flow for a few weeks we decided to pull the bugger out so that space is now empty and we are debating on doing an acan garden in that spot or reserving it for something else down the road lol we haven't added much for corals but a few more zoanthids around the top :) we are fully stocked for fish atm 3 x full grown pj cardinals 2 x trojan clownfish 1 x citron goby 1 x sailfin blenny 1 x baby kole tang 2 x scotts fairy wrasses here are some pics of how it sits today , we finally did another water change last night of 5g to freshen things up a bit. water results have stayed consistent and still no measurable po4 or no3 and this is even with me babysitting 9 fish in my sump, no new gfo as of lately either. tank is maturing on schedule and without a hitch :) pics: http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...psfulwrmnr.jpg http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...psuxogcp2o.jpg http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...psnnzimc0y.jpg http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...psaubdfn9m.jpg http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...psutfwcl4j.jpg http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...psgzdzqp6i.jpg http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...pswepiaiyx.jpg http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...pssaslacpw.jpg http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...psec85krwi.jpg http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...psw8s9nyzp.jpg http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...pscsxcci4o.jpg http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...pstucg1tcl.jpg http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9unxpuin.jpg http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...psz077ykxh.jpg will post some full tank shots here next :) hope you enjoy!! ruth and denny:) |

Not bad for a tank that's all dry rock lol we still have plenty of zoanthids to add we're doing that part slowly polyp by polyp but it's getting full :) we are maxed out on fish but do plan on some more inverts (porcelain crabs, some more anemone shrimp etc) Overall though we have had prctiacally no issues with this tank and everything is getting along fairly well:) Over the next little while we are going to finish the stands exterior as well I need to make a mesh cover somehow for the guard dogs (big jumpers) Once this is done I guess we will have to walk away for a year to let it fill in tightly or set up another lol kinda wish We went 36 x 36 or 48 x 48............ Hmmmm I wonder if a larger upgrade would fly so soon lol Hmmmm... Hmm.. Hm I want to lol:mrgreen: |
Great looking pics, I am still loving the waterfall idea.

I could do the zoanthid systems and the waterfall tank in one shot:) That's another story though lol Cheers buddy Denny |
Lol we would love to come check it out sometime, pick up some zoas maybe as well. Haha just need a day off sometime.

we took some random top down shots last night with the flow off :)

Time for a quick update :)
I have recently had both my gfo and carbon reactors clog (no surprise there lol) and we were getting some cyano but with a quick net mod to the tlf it's now almost impossible to clog and cyano disappeared as soon as they were back online. We have increased our vinegar dose by 10mls a day and so far so good We Have a mystery on our hands , shrimps are disappearing exoskeleton and all , it's either the pistol shrimp doing it or the Scott's fairy wrasse , theres no visable signs of anything what so ever and the tank is too small to hide ....the missing shrimp are small like sexy shrimp, anemone shrimps and a single small cleaner shrimp. The wrasse I've been watching like a hawk and it doesn't seem like he's interested at all in them but the pistol is elusive and is never seen only heard lol it's one of those two for sure We added a cool little goby , a flaming prawn goby he's cryptic and isn't out much and about 1/4" to 1/2" in size , he has found the fire shrimp and lives side by side just doesn't come into the light so I have a crappy video I managed to take but does show him as well we took some pics in a white dish before adding him to the tank :) Still having an issue with all the shrimps in the system picking at the clams , the wrasse works great at night but he's a 9 to 5 fish and night is when play time begins so its Time to find a night time worker :) Finally lost the large blue maxima clam , after several fresh water dips for pinched mantle he would look ok then not the next week , the shrimps picked him to a stress point when I finally pulled it you can tell when it's time :( Mot much room for corals anymore but We added some more dendro colonies to the dark area where the clam was sitting as well I've been adding some zoas around top and here and there :) Wll post an up to date video tomorrow as well some fts pics we took :) Cheers Denny and Ruth |
Sorry to hear about the shrimps and clam
Could you possibly tell me what this mushroom is called? https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8578/...91d422fa_z.jpg |

those ricordias are looking very colorful , you two have done a great job on that tank
|
agreed i love the ric blanket in there. my own tank is doing quite well yet my two struggling rics have been about the size of a pencil eraser head for months. any thoughts as to why rics aren't doing well for me?
