Thanks. I'm pretty happy with how it all turned out. I've got some pics but it really does it no justice. It does look good in person. Using a Fujifilm XP snappy. I dont know anything about settings:ohwell: The colors lool like crap in these pics.
I have my aquascape in a kind of U shape and it's pretty much all a big cave of sorts, lots of tonga rock in there. http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...be/jan4002.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...be/jan4004.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...be/jan4005.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...be/jan4006.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...be/jan4008.jpg |
Bill, that looks really awesome! Good job.
|
I'm liking all the room you have for growth
Looks great !! |
And here u were blaming all your crappy pictures on the bow front tank:wink:
Looks good Bill |
I wish there was a "like" button!! Great work!
|
Thanks everyone. Now to figure out the camera settings.
|
Looks fantastic! And just a heads up, with LEDs you will likely be messing with your camera's settings for the rest of time. After 2 nearly 2 years and 3 cameras I've still yet to take a picture of my tank that I feel captures how it actually looks in person. Blue LED diodes are kryptonite to camera sensors.

I've tried that, but this long in none of my sand is truly white anymore. The bulk of it has turned greyish the same way my Marco rocks have gone from blinding white to 'live rock grey', and about every 4th grain has gone purple from coralline. There are some white grains still in places that have been disturbed, but from the camera's perspective it all evens out to a solid grey. The best I've been able to do is to try to correct in photoshop after the fact because you can zoom right in an select one truly white pixel on one grain of sand. Sometimes it works and produces a 'true to life' output, and sometimes it produces an acid trip.
My roommate bought a waterproof lumix camera for her trip to Hawaii and it has settings specifically for different depth of water and I've found that one has taken the best images overall in terms of colours. iPhones... not so much. |
Im reading.....:D

Great tank!
How big is the copperband now? What do you feed him? How often? (I have a 3 inch one myself). |
When myself or my wife are home in the day all my fish get fed 3 times a day. If not than twice a day. I make my own frozen food. The CBB is probably 5" now. Model citizen in the tank.

Well after 2 years of using Sols I've finally come across a problem with one of them. I don't know why but one of my fixtures has decided not to ramp up or down with the rest of the lights. It seems to be stuck at 100%. I'm just waiting for a couple more wireless adapters to show up and see if that'll fix the problem. I'm hoping it's just the data cable connection.
|
Quote:
Not familiar with how they work, but can u swap cables from one to the other to see if its a problem with the control or the cord? |
Well there's only 2 now that are hooked up with the data cable. The others have the wireless adapters and i'm waiting for more to arrive in the mail. Hoping that it will solve this problem. If not than it looks like i'll be saving my allowance up for 2 of the Hydra 52's, but really thats my plan anyways.
|
Well the wireless adapters came for my lights and it didnt help the one Sol fixture so it must be the control part of it.
So something new. Well after a little research I got creative in my basement today and decided to build one of these. I had some Ecoexotic LED fixtures kicking around, a Mag 8 pump, and a bunch of PVC. http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...crubber009.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...crubber008.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...crubber010.jpg I'll be running the 2 red LED fixtures for 18hrs a day. Supposedly red grows algae. I may have to get some pieces of plastic to block the light from every where else. I'm a little curious to see how this expirement turns out. I guess I really am old school now:lol: |
Nice controller in the background
What your thought with this new contraption? |

Day 7 and it's growing algae. I switched the lights to white instead of red. I also cut up a plastic tote and put it on due to the splashing of the waterfall.

good job on the algae scrubber, what type of algae is growing? i have some that would work good in this application
|
Well I got some good new today from AquaIllumination.
Here's the email conversation and the light is over 2 years old. Hello, Thanks for the information and sorry to hear of the issues with the light. Have you tried unplugging the data cable and reentering to see if it is a bad connection? Or, have you tried using a different data cable to that light? Lastly, have you tried plugging the controller directly into that light only to see if it is controllable without being tied together in chain? Please let us know, thank you. - Justin February 26, 2014 11:32 . Billcorr Yes I have tried all of the above. The controlability of this light seems to be no longer working. At this point I just plug the 1 light in for 4hrs a day, I have enough light with my other fixtures to keep up with my SPS. I'm currently running 4 Sol Blues and 2 Hydras. I plan on replacing 2 of the Sols for Hydra 52's in 2 months time. All depending on whats happening with this merge. February 26, 2014 15:16 . Aquaillumination Support Team C2 Development, Inc.Thanks for the update. It sounds like the motherboard inside of the light is causing this issue unfortunately and would need to be replaced in order to gain control back to the light. If you would like, we can just send out a new board to you this time as a gesture to say thank you for your support you have shown over the years, we would just ask that you pay shipping for the board. If you would please provide your shipping information, I can get a quote for you (appears you may live in Canada so prices will vary). Thank you, Justin AI |
Some nice looking new fish there Bill
Hope the new MoBo solves your issue |

PG Reef tank tour
Thanks for hosting a "bonus" tour stop this year. Your tank is absolutely stunning, and it was great to see a worthy replacement for George Leven's tank.

Mailman came yesterday yay!!
http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...hydra52001.jpg That's them in the middle, they're way skinnier than the Sol Blues on the ends and even skinnier than the Hydras beside them. I might play with how they are hung on the rack. They're way brighter and I turned the intensity down quite a bit. http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...hydra52005.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...hydra52004.jpg Tanks been running good and only negative thing is that I woke uo this morning to see that my Bellus Angel had died. He'd been acting strange for the last few days so I was expecting it anyways. |
Tank is looking great! Those lights look cool.
