A controller yes, but I run a chiller with a older built-in controller and it's only 1 degree increments.

My controller is in .1 so I have it set at 79.0

I still live in the black and white days, 1 degree variance in F works for me, I guess constant temp I meant not having 2-3 F difference from night to day,can cause some problems with folks I've talked to.

My tank is running 78 when lights first come on to 84 when they shut off at night. I don't have a heater in the tank so the lights are it's sole source of heat

Tank is in basement and house has AC so it doesn't get very warm at all even in the summer
