My parents car got clipped at the airport parking lots. They filled out a police report and the insurance covered it without a raise in premium. 250 deductible I think

Couple years ago I ran over a broken vodka bottle and it sliced my tire. Insurance company covered 4 new tires (awd) and they told me it comes out a city fund that covers vandalism

Yeah, it is high! Luckily it comes down at the end of this month as I am no longer considered a high risk driver (under 25 years of age). To be fair I did have a huge claim with my insurance company this year, ($21,000.00 in damage). At the time my deductible was $1000.00 but they raised it after they had to pay out so much for the accident.

When I was in Saskatchewan I remember actually being able to afford insurance. Here in AB the rates are much higher (but then again: so is my hourly wage).

My insurance is actually cheaper now in AB than when I was in SK however when I first moved from AB to SK my insurance was a lot cheaper. Just depends on your age and what kind of discounts you get. People would probably throw up if they found out what I pay and what I get

that really sucks. It is good that your insurance cover it

Probably relates somehow to public property causing damage to your vehicle, just like a pot hole or missing sign the city could be held liable. However I assure you if I took a bat to your car the city won't be picking up the bill
On another note that does sound like weird claim, typically that is was tire insurance is for when you buy new tires....

That sucks about your car and how rude some people are!

I had the same thing happen a few years ago, used to park at 39th Street to take the train downtown. I got home afterwork and the back end of my car was sticking out in the street, thought I had parked like an idiot. Got to my car, there was a note stating my car had been hit. I walked the side of the car along the street and didn't notice anything, thought no big deal. Started driving and my passenger mirror was flopping around. Pulled over and the whole right side of my car was banged up. Was weird as this was parked along a green space with a parking lot slightly above grade. An employee had left a standard truck in neutral and it rolled back into my car. Anyway, I had a quote for repairs, showed it to the guy and said pay half as I had no intention of repairing the car (was a beater) but needed the cash for the balance of a house down payment. We were both happy with the end result, I was thankful he was honest and left the note.

My boyfried drives a big truck with work trailers and clipped someone in a parking lot. He didn't notice but someone else did and got his info and reported it. Once he was made aware, he paid for the repairs to the other driver. If someone hadnt seen him do it, he wouldn't have known (or so he says, but I believe him.....)

Wow dude, that really sucks. At least it's fixable, but still, what an unnecessary headache.

sphelps 06-01-2012 08:37 PM

Thanks all but at the end of day this is just a friendly warning regarding parking there, I'm over it so no sympathy required, it's just a car. The only part that really bothers me is that some people can't even take the responsibility, there is just no way someone wouldn't have realized they hit my car. I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford nice shinny things but I would never intentionally make someone else suffer because of it, even if the person was uninsured I would have at least tried to work out something with them, if they had stuck around. Rest assured there no place in this society for these kinds of people but there is a special place in hell reserved just for them.

Avoid parking in the first few perpendicular row of spaces. Not the ones right against the store but the ones that leave your car facing east/west. It seems certain store visitors in the area are not only poor drivers but have no ethical values what so ever.

This happened to me when I recently in the store for a very brief time. No sign of the other driver, note or witness. This is also not the first time this has happened in the area so be warned.
