If he got paid for every giveaway/turnover he would be worth that for sure, probably much more. :twised:

I agree its a bad (super bad) contract but I do find it funny how fans hate a player for his contract. The only person who should care is Katz. Its not like his contract is stopping us from signing free agents, the Oil have tons of cap space.

I honestly don't care how much the contract is... he could be playing for free and Id still pray he was playing for Calgary or at the least a healthy scratch.

I don't hate Horcoff because of his contract. He can make 10M for 10 years, I would care less if he actually performs. He's just dead weight now as far as I am concerned. Nobody wants him and that's why we can't trade him away.

No we can't trade him because of his gross contract. Again I'm no fan of his but in his defence he was put in a crap position by the team, he was a shutdown center expected to score goals as well. It's been constant theme on this team, players not knowing their roles and being asked to do what they have never done. I am glad to see it changing but I think that comes from having enough top end talent to allow the role players like Horcoff and the like to be role players.

(I wasn't pointing fingers at anyone before it was a general statement, mostly brought on by listening to sports radio all day lol)

Considering how little Oilers fans have had to cheer for for so long now, this was great day for all of us. How many teams have gone through rebuilds and still have most of the seats sold on a lot of nights?

As for Horcoff, he may become tradeable in the last 2 years of his contract. Although his cap hit remains at $5.5M, his actual salary drops to $4M and then $3M. A non-cap team might be interested. His salary is still $6M next year though, so he won't be going anywhere soon.

A shutdown center, really? A minus 23 rating is not really a shut down center in my opinion. Last time I looked, that's the worst on the team

I agree. Maybe Canadians are just crazy about their hockey. Check out the Maple Laughs. They are in worse shape than the Oilers and their building is sold out every night. It's great to be the owner of that team

They should buy him out, Katz has lots of cash.
I was shocked by the Hemsky signing. At least a million a year to much.
I think he could have been signed for 3.5 to 4 million.

True but he is out against the top line on every team. Im not a fan of plus minus I think its a poor representation of defensive ability. I have no idea why I keep defending him lol...I'd rather he wasn't here as well

I agree that Hemsky was signed for too much, but it is only for 2 more years, so only Hall's and Eberle's new contracts will be in effect by then.
