I just bought a new Nano-box-reef 12" fixture from Dave and it has two attachments for hanging wires. I don't think I can (or really want to) drill holes in the casing to attach to the bracket.
it looks like this: http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...s453/photo.jpg but with wires already on the silver attachments. If it doesn't use the hanging kit at all, why does the website have a hanging kit option for the bracket type? Thanks. |
do the hanging screws screw out? or are there any threads on them?

The web site has the hanging kit because some people like to just hang the fixture from the ceiling. These are a different option for people that dont want to dill in to there ceiling and have cables visable.
Let me think on this I know I can come up with something that will work. Can you get me a shot close up that shows the top of the fixture from the front side not from the top. |

Are the cable permanent? or can they be removed? whats there when removed? I will not let this beat me, I WILL FIGURE SOMETHING OUT!!!

Not sure which cable you're asking about:
Hanging cables attachments can be removed, they just screw on. Once removed, there are holes which I can screw something else into it. I know this is probably the most viable way to use those brackets, but the problem is the electrical cable is in the way of the metal plate. I have thought of using a washer/spacer and use longer screws to attach it. However, the hole on the left is quite close to the electric cable as in the pic, so the washer/spacer needs to a specific size/shape. Knowing my hardware stores, I don't think I can find something as specific as that... Electrical cables, not sure why you want to remove it, but I don't think it's removable. |

I also thought about this idea.
http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk11/Kryos453/1.jpg but I'm worried about the structural integrity (strength) of the narrow parts of the bar at 1. between the hole and the nick for the cable. and 2. the part holding the left end to the centre. |
