Any 300G found in western Canada should work fine on Telus network. Second hand is a bit of risk though, you might be buying a brick. Too bad your in AB, I have a few old modems in the closet.

Yes - you ae correct. I just assumed it was a router. I didn't take the time to check. Dlink makes a reasonable DSL modem. Don't mind me.

Have you checked your modems specific port forward settings with Portforward.com? Also there is a awesome Neptune support forum over on RC and the guys there are great at getting the Apex up and running on a network.

Snaz 09-11-2010 09:21 PM

I checked portforward.com and did not see this device listed. The firmware is custom telus which they have stated they do not support port forwarding on
Can it be done? Maybe but others have tried without much success.

Don't buy an old/used Dlink 300G modem. Trust me, you're just wasting you money buying that.

Just call Telus and see if you can get a Thompson SpeedTouch modem, then just buy a good wireless N router.

Apparently the 2Wire modem/router I have from Telus is a nightmare to configure for access to the Apex. I have spent countless hour trying everything, reading every online post I can find and using every configuration possible with no luck. I figure it might be time to change modems, I would like to get something that works with Telus internet, and is Apex friendly so I can enjoy the benefit on online access. Any suggestions?

Call telus, tell them you want a Speedtouch modem instead of the 2wire or seimens.

then get a linksys wrt310N or higher

even if you get just a new router, the telus 2wire or seimens will not allow a linksys router to be on the same network, due to both using the same ip set (192.168.1.xxx)
you will see all pcs on your network, but have no internet access.

once you get the speedtouch, and linksys, then just a simple port forward application setting and your good to go.

just did the same thing for my profilux 3 and iphone app

Woohoo!!! I finally got it all configured and working! I accessed my controller with my iPhone no problem. Thanks to my buddy Smudge, I was fixed up with a new Speedtouch 516 and a Linksys WRT54G. Thanks guys for all your technical help, especially Snaz, it was just the advice I needed. Curt from Neptune is going to Telnet the Apex and get it tweaked so I don't have this sensitivity problem.

Glad it all worked out.

I spoke with Curt from Neptune today, he logged into my Apex and fixed it, quite impressive. All is good!

Medhatreefguy

Can you tell us what Curt fixed? You mentioned something about sensitivity? Is this something we should all be on the look out for? Please feel free to PM me if you would rather not post the details.
