One more thought for you guys. Find out about the bulb and different replacements. Those type of bulbs may only come in warm white (5600K or 6500K). Not sure that would be ideal for a pico reef unless you want to grow some nice macro algae.

Don't want to hijack your thread Ian. It's for the nano contest:

Good point... Ian can you see if we can get other bulbs for this ? I really don't want to grow macro algae, I already have a CPR fuge for that:lol:

Okay, I will look into it. The description on Premium Aquatics does say that it comes with a blue and white bulb. I will phone them right now.

**EDIT** Just talked to Premium Aquatics, the bulb is a 50/50 Blue and White special bulb. He said the light is a nice crisp light blue in color.

The light bulb appears to have three loops to it, so it's different than the Coralife bulb that is sold in most stores. It would be interesting to find out what a replacement bulb costs. Finnex doesn't list this tank on their site, nor the replacement bulbs.

Yeah, I noticed this too; however, it is a brand new tank for them as listed on Reef Builders. I will call Finnex and find out.

Just talked to Finnex, the bulbs are custom factory ordered by Finnex for their lamps, they are indeed a 50/50 crisp blue and 7200K white. The bulbs are readily available as replacements and I was told will retail for about $10. Finnex has yet to upload this new tank and light fixture to their website.

So..... It looks like we have the light issue worked out.

I started the SW hobby with a 3g in my office. It is a Tom Deco Kit3. I added a heater and a mini power head to it and I could keep 1 fish and a couple of softies.

The only issue I have is the heat problem over the summer weekend, especially a l-o-n-g weekend where there is no air-conditioning in the office.
