Snaz, thanks for all of the excellent info. I just installed ADSL 2 days ago because i got tired of the after school effect. So far i am very happy but now some of my telephones are staticy, any ideas?

Filtering I suspect. Make sure EVERY phone and fax that shares the telephone line is behind a filter such as this inline one:
http://www.ace4parts.com/Products/DS...R__170802.aspx Available at Radio Shack or Future Shop etc, Ask for ADSL Inline FIlters. You should have got a couple with your modem, check the box.

Make sure the ADSL modem is NOT behind a filter, or if it is a POTS or ADSL splitter the ADSL modem needs to be plugged into the Modem side. Make sure your cordless phones, basestations, microwave ovens etc. are at least 6 feet away from the ADSL modem.

Yes i have 4 of the that they sent me. All of the phones are filtered and my answering machine too but it now records alot of static that it didnt before.

Find out which device is creating the static by removing them one at a time. If you find one device is creating a lot of static try putting it behind two filters. I had to do this with my old digital answering machine.
