Ruth,

If gas wasn't so expensive, I'd love to come give you a hand if needed. But at current prices, I'd be looking at $370 just in gas for the trip. Ouch!!!

Good luck with this project.

Anthony

Well, even if you decide not to take me up on the skimmer offer.I'm in for labor if you need a strong back.

So, I just sent out a SLOUGH of PMs to everyone regarding donations for the aquarium I'm hoping to set up at my group home! I'm really thankful for everyone who offered to help with equipment or time or frags or anything.

Still on the list of stuff to get is:

1) Any spare plumbing parts (PVC, elbows, etc.)
2) Any old powerheads you might have lying around
3) Salt (I'll probably ending up buying this...but can't hurt to ask!)
4) Rock (I'll probably end up trying my hand at some DIY stuff. Eek)

Again, thank you so much. I'll keep you all posted on the progress.

~Drew

Drew; et all

I am going to drill the tank (24"x12.5x24h) on Sunday and thought I would run everything by you and all. I have a 1.5" glass hole saw and 2 spears 1/2" bulkheads. Do you want the holes at the end (12.5" pane) which would skim the whole surface; or the back (which I'm not sure I have glass to make the overflow) or on a back corner (top or bottom). Suggestions appreciated before Sunday (no critz after LOL).

Kevin

ps Drew in a week I will have a nice canopy and metal stand for this.

Kevin:

Awesome!! I'm totally inexperienced when it comes to drilling and plumbing, so hopefully some others can give you advice. That's very cool, though....then I can start picking up the other donations and putting it all together!

Reading a thread like this makes my heart warm!

Ruth - you are a SAINT - the sincere offer you made just made my jaw drop!

Everyone else - good on you! At a time when the world doesn't always seem like such a nice place - you people have all stepped forward in community to consciously try and make a small part of it better for those less fortunate. I for one, am affected in a positive way already.

With humility - thank you all!

Jim.

I have 3 powerheads - 2 seio 620s and a smaller hagen 402 to donate to the cause.

Drew,

I have a garbage bin full of rock. It is yours if you want it. I can look around for some powerheads, I think I may have a spare Aquaclear 807 for you as well.

Update: I've been slowly but surely working on this aquarium! Thanks to the generosity of many of you, it's getting there! My goal was to have it up, running, full of cured rock by Christmas, but I think it'll have to be around New Year's!

I'll post pics when all is said and done.

Merry Christmas!

P.S. The kids are so excited.

fishoholic 12-23-2007 12:56 AM

Good for you Drew! It's so nice to know you (with the help of others donations of course) have made this a reality for those kids  Let me know if you're going to be in Edmonton after the tank is up running, and I'll frag some corals for you.
