Lee,

They Came in 3, 6, 8, 10 and 12' length`s.

I chose the 12' because even when you slide it 4' back (wich was about the width of mine) it still is in the way, but just the other end is.

It is important that you also consider your tanks width when determining the length of the track, because the track must span the full tank width aswell as your "in the moved position" sitting space, and finally add your working room to that total.

So, Im guessing a tank 2' wide would need a minimum of a 6 foot track, that you have a full 2' of working room from the tank edge to the sitting spot on the canopy, wich still seems tight but doable.

*EDIT* i guess this applies only to tanks that have only one back or face acsess, rather than back and front acsess would allow you to push it to the opposite side your working on at the time.

Just a thought that may save you some returning to HD for exchanges like i had to do.

Good to know, I have both front and back access. But will do most work from the front. I just want the option to slide all the way forwards to change the lamps.

About how much are talking for these?

Lee,

I got all the hardware to hang it (eye hooks, s hooks and ready rod in stainless) , and the tracks and the wheels for about $350 total.

That is a beautiful setup. WOW would I love to have something like that in my place. Planning on building an addition in the next couple of years - of course with a fish room- and was thinking about going to a 4 or 500g tank. So ever been to NE BC???? Fishing trip in a couple of years??? JK Very nice job and can't wait to see it stocked.

Thanks Jack and Ruth,

Hmm, i suck at fishing...but im real good at placing a sixpack beside me and hanging the hook in the water as to appear im good at it.
Id be glad to help with ideas when your ready.

Jack, yeah there was a hella lot of planning...though it always seems i coulda done more of it.
For me, the line between planning and procrastinating was way too vague.....

All said and done i couldnt be more happy...unless i had more frags too put in it right now.

Ill add a few more pics soon.
