The album Overcome by All That Remains is one of my favorites of all time. Cover to cover all the songs do it for me.
They have put out a few other good ones as well. This one is just tops for me.

And I do agree that Metallica has put out some of the best albums of all time, just not that metal anymore.

Metallica set the stage for what was to become mainsteam, Megadeth tried to become mainstream but never gained enough popularity.

My top favorites are Metallica, Slayer, White/Rob Zombie, Danzig, Disturbed, Rammstein, Linkin Park, Sepultra

For a mixture or metal/classical/Christmas the Trans Siberian Orchestra is great and if you ever get to see them in concert you will be amazed. Extremely talented musicians.

I listen to bit symphonic metal such as Therion and Celtic Frost as well.

There is lots of others but I only listen to few of their songs.

without dave there probably wouldnt have been a metallica no?

safe to say dave wrote most of the songs with hettfield and burton in fact all the first album and most of ride the lightning.

megadeth had no choice but to try and go mainstream , remember the late 80's and early 90's?? brutal for metal with all that grunge etc. lol

hettfield , great guitarist and musician , in fact ive seen them in concert over a dozen times and met kirk(wasnt great either lol) and i give full credit to james , hes whats kept metallica going year after year to influence every great metal muscian today:)

fact is , kirks no bethoven lol

My all time fav has to be the TRUE metal GODS Judas Priest or anything from Rob Halford. His other 2 bands, FIGHT & Halford and kick ass, he also had a 3rd band called TWO.

Big Ozzy, Metalica, Megadeath, Maiden, Coheed & Cambria, Striker, Zombie, Hell Ya & Penny Wise fan but you can never forget the pioneers like Sabbath, Dio, Moterhead & naturally Priest.

There are so many versions of metal out there but Im really not a big fan of the "scream like your nuts are in a vise" form of metal like Lamb of God.

They all had a hand in the bands development but Lars actually started it. I agree that not everyone is a Kirk fan but I will give him credit that his solos actually fit the songs they are in and when people hear a part of the solo they know what song it came from. Most metal song solos just sound like they were made up on the spot and are quite forgettable.
