Rich glad to see the tank is finally coming along and great job in getting rid of the Bryopsis. Corals are looking great (ps.. The lokani is the 30k leagues). So where can I get one of these fancy cameras?
Only 233 days before the Macna trip!!!! |

Sad day for me.....
For those of you think that your proven coral eating fish might be special and won't touch your corals as long as you keep them well fed is some what of a daydreamer, in my opinion. I have kept my Moorish idol and copper band for near a year and a half, both fish are healthy and fat. I have always known that I can't have any lps in the tank which I have learned to live with but not till just recently I have noticed some of the sps tips are getting "roughed up". Few nights ago, wife alarmed me to the Moorish eating some of the sps polyps, as I turned my head, it took 3 bites out of the Oregon tort. It's at that moment I realize as much as I love that fish I just love my Oregon tort tiny bit more. So I decided to sell or give both fish away, money wasn't a big object as long as my fishes are re-homed in a healthy and good size tank.
So, here is the last few pics of them in the bucket ready for their new adventures. BTW, just to share how I caught them in a sps fill tank with-in 10 minutes and more importantly without breaking anything was total darkness, I used my blue LED flash light by orphik (Thanks Hungie) and just sneaked up and netted them. I was amazed how easy it was!!! If you ever need to catch a fish in the tank, please give it a try. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1574/...bf066520_z.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1532/...3d59fd5e_z.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1601/...0190b84c_z.jpg Although I am sad to see it go but I have no regrets on keep them. Many have said to me you will never be able to keep them...that they will die....I can proudly say that I have kept them and kept them well. I will miss my 2 little guys but tis life. Now....back to the corals! |
What's that one fourth from last?
Poor CB was my favourite part of your tank. Sigh. |
Sorry to hear about the fish, trully sucks but at least ya got some nice looking sticks :)

Your frags are growing, and keeping nice colour. My money will be heading to your tank when it's ready.

That's some beauty sps! Just wondering what you use for phosphate control?
|
Quote:
I use a mix of all in one and vertex bio-pellets along with fozdown, healthy dose of rowa top it of with vinegar everyday. I like to keep my po4 around 0.02-0.08 to keep corals at a more vibrant color. note that you will also need to keep a bit of no3 for a balance. |
All your colours are really excellent. Would you elaborate on the vinegar and foz down? I'm intrigued by both. Manual or auto dose and how much how often? I like the look of all frags as much as colonies.

140 gallons of water, I usually dose 10ml-15ml daily, 7-15 drops of foz-down in the filter sock also dosed daily. Rowaphos is used according to the BRS calculator and swap out 3-6 months depending on how the po4 is reacting. All the dosing except for the big three is done manually but I think I will automate it very soon. Hope this helps. Happy reefing! |
