Dude that sucks you got a leak especially since ur movin right soon.

andestang 04-29-2010 06:52 PM

Some great pics Doug ! You know whats gonna happen when you do that little bit extra tightening don't ya :2gunfire: :frusty: :snipersm::rant: . Remember Mr T -" I pitty the fool" That sums up having to move your tanks . If I can help in anyway when you move Doug let me know.

hillegom 04-29-2010 07:07 PM

When you need them, those big channel locks sure do come in handy.
Good thing you noticed the leak when you did.

kien 04-29-2010 07:15 PM

D'oh!! When it rains it pours.. Unless you live in Calgary where it rains and snows.. And the snow comes at you at a horizontal vector.

Leah 04-29-2010 10:48 PM

Soooooooo sorry to hear this Doug. I hope the floor will be okay. Crossing my fingers and toes for you.

Delphinus 04-30-2010 03:39 AM

Pictures look great as usual.

Think you're looking at the floor spill from the wrong perspective though. I'd be all "Meh .. what's the landlord gonna do? EVICT ME?"

HEHE, the floor will be fine. At least the tank didn't crack or something bad like that.

Thanks bud......Im sooo not looking forward to moving this thing:neutral:......Im thinking about having a "Fishy's free frag tank move party" when the time comes.....some fish are being re-homed so there should be canreefers coming that day for that as well( are you ready for them Catherine?????).....

I guess, Im really fortunate to be sitting at home ATM.......normally I would be up at 6:00 am to go to work......I wouldnt even have noticed.....only noticed as I was sitting at the computer having my "second cup", perving canreef, at about 8:00 that the bottom of the back panel of the stand was wet:surprise:

Hopefully this bad string of events will be out of the system come "tank move time".......

not sure.....this is the second time its been wet!.......a cracked tank would have forced me to either upgrade.....or quit:neutral:

all dry today so it looks like I got everything fixed......gonna be a little stressful not knowing if there is any damage there, until I pretty much hand the landlord the keys:neutral:......

Im wondering now if I may have an issue inside the tank......I had two frags rtn on me the same night of the leak...... got me wondering if the colony rtn from last week might be related to this and not the nems fault?....another change I made besides stopping the iron dosing was, I've been doubling up on my "coral snow" dosage, because of the mess in the add-on tank(theres some cyano as well as the macro)....so not sure if this is what caused the stress.........

params before my water change on Monday were.

DKH 10 (perfect)
CA 390 (adjusted the profilux to now dose 30ml, 24 times a day)
MG 1350 (not too bad, presently dose 5/8 cup every two weeksish, will bump up to 3/4 cup or possibly 3/8 cup every week)

I didnt test the nitrates.....will do that after the morning dosing has a chance to run through the system a bit....

only fish I can get a good shot of.....

thats not Greg......that would be the best side of me:lol:

Thanks Kien.... it was my pleasure.....your welcome anytime man......and thanks for taking the pics.....they are all fabulous (as usual):hail:

not reef related but,was puttering around the yard the other day and took a couple pics......

and as I was taking pics of some of the flowers, I noticed some very obvious damage to alot of the leaves......the culprit?...........a baby bunny (mini-bun), about the size of a chinchilla.........cute little flower muncher:twised:

fishytime 05-20-2010 03:20 PM

D-day(moving day) is a little over a month away and I'm really starting to worry about it......I've been giving some serious thought to temporarily re-homing some of my more sensitive critters and perhaps a coral or five that I simply cant loose.....the tank is sure to go through a cycle and I dont want to subject my clam collection to that.......problem is finding someone willing to babysit for a couple months who has a large, mature, clam friendly system with a similar feeding regiment and enough room for everything.......any volunteers?

sitandwatch 05-20-2010 03:40 PM

I will help you out if needed.

lorenz0 05-20-2010 03:49 PM

i can't keep anything but give me a ring if you need help moving. fill a couple of cars and get it done asap

Zoaelite 05-20-2010 04:50 PM

Holy WOW Kien those are amazing photos:surprise:! Doug if you need a hand moving drop me a PM, my giant 2000 ford explorer comes in handy for things like that.

Why doesn't Kevin look after your prize stock while the tank is readjusting?

fishytime 05-23-2010 04:41 AM

thanks for the offers guys!....

Im sure Kevin would watch them but.....the tanks at the shop have constant influxes of livestock making things a little too unstable for my liking....sometimes peeps dont realize the challenges LFSs face in their systems.......

so what do I do?..........take home a couple more crocea clams.......Im weak.....and dumb:mrgreen:

one of the newbies was being really sensitive to the camera movement so I didnt get a good pic.......but heres the other one

fishytime 05-23-2010 03:37 PM

the only reason I brought them home is......I found someone who is gonna babysit my babies (thanks for the offer Sean).....couple more pics of the recent additions......

Doug, get yourself one of those long turkey skewer things and skewer the SOB. Works great. I tried trapping them etc. didn't work. Just stab Mr. Crabbie right between his little stick eyes.

Make a crossbow out of popsicle sticks (or similar) and elastics and shoot toothpicks at him. If you have shrimp, usually an injury is enough to turn them into a frenzy and they'll eat their clawed brethren alive (you say 'nems are evil.. I say anything with claws is evil .. some are just pretty enough to keep around).

Make sure your aim is good though. I wouldn't trust myself to do this idea at all. "Whoops... Gosh I really liked that clam/fish/insert-something-other-than-undesired-crab here" :( )
