My regal is almost 100% better. It has been just over two weeks and was starting to worry he was going to loose the eye. Looks like my decision to leave it in the display and wait things out worked out this time. Nems is evil....have I mentioned that? My green bta split:neutral:.....Now I have three! http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/IMGP2592.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/IMGP2593.jpg |
Ok here are some before and after shots of the tank as requested. Before had a G midday and after has G actinic+.

Hey doug. This is Sean, that silly guy who was doing some reno work at maxwell beside RC. Long time no see  I really need to find time to get down to that end of town. Why are you guys so far! Anyways I've been trolling your build for a while now and everything looks great. I also recently took out a g midday too. I found I got way to much algae stimulation with it and also it's very "white". I replaced it with a kz fiji purple and loved it.
Oh I also read in a diff post that you been dosing with "some" ZEO product and have had good results. I have moved into a full ZEO dosing regiment (minus the reactor) and have had great results aswell. Just a question, I read you don't use the zeo amino acid product because it's much cheaper. Im wondering if you have had good results with it. Some people have posted switching from the Zeo amino to another product and then ending up switching back due to the results. I trust your opinion though and honestly saving any coin in this hobby is a good thing. |

Honestly....when Im done with this bottle of Seachem amino,I will likely switch to the Pohls. Not becuase I am unhappy with the seachem, but because of the reputation of the Pohls products as being the "best". I started my amino dosing with the seachem at the suggestion of a customer and the benefits were almost immediate. I agree trying to save a few bucks where you can is essential, but like most things in this hobby ...you get what you pay for. |

As far as the midday bulb, yeh it was an ugly ass yellow. For some reason though it really stimulated "common" green film algae growth in my tank. Especially on my glass. As soon as I swapped it out for a KZ fiji purple I went from having to clean my glass daily to once every couple days. I am going to have to get some pics up of my tank one day to show you, but unfortunately my 150 dollar camera mixed with my noobie photography skills really takes shitty pictures. For some reason my camera can't seem to take a picture of my tank that's not blurry or has bad white balance. Even in macro mode. Who knows, maybe the camera is fine and it's all the end user  |
My camera is a P&S that wasnt terribly expensive. Most of the outside the tank shots I do with a tripod. That makes a huge difference. The close ups and top downs are done with the camera in the tank and obviously I end up rattling off a few shots, trying to get non-blurry and subject centered pictures.
Crappy pics is better than noooo pics. On that note.... heres a couple crappy actinic shots. http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/IMGP2604.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/IMGP2602.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/IMGP2609.jpg |
I got him!!!!!

So how long did it take???
|
About three hours. My flame angel gets an assist. I cut the bottom off one of my acan frags to mount it permanently my rockwork. I put the epoxy on and squished it in where I wanted it. The whole process of course irritated the heck out of the acan causing it to slime like crazy. The bi-color was on it in a second, pecking the ba-jeebers out of it. That was the straw so to speak. I put the bottle trap in and baited it with the slimming acan.I left the neck part of the trap off so there was just one large opening. So I sat.......on the coffee table in front of the tank......caught my solar wrasse twice, again....bonehead....My Talbots damsel swims in(he doesnt know it but Ive secretly been wanting him out of the tank too)....I jump up, plunge my hand in the tank and cover the opening to the trap....but not well enough...he squeezed out as I tried to get the trap out of the tank.... Finally the target fish neared the opening to the trap...just then my flame angel took a run at the bi-color , scaring him into the trap...again I swoop in and this time cover the opening better and....:BIG:

That story got me excited. The sort of excitement that belongs on one of those 'you know you're a reefer when...' lists. Nice work. I've only ever hunted crabs but these battles we have get intense (and kill the arms when you're poised waiting!)
The difference after your bulb swab is incredible. I love the new look you've got there. |
