I'd give it a crack if I could stop playing Halo Reach.

lastlight 12-03-2010 06:34 AM

I would have loved it. However fake blood stains my pasty skin...I bet the look would have gone over awesome today in the office.

My tattoo artist just called me to cancel my appointment. Sad face.

and I just broke my favorite custom glass plug from an artist who is no longer making body jewelry....

Doug 12-03-2010 11:28 PM

My random thought is, I dont have a clue what anyone is talking about.

Myka 12-07-2010 06:28 PM

Could we do Christmas without presents this year? I mean I got enough on my plate as it is, and Christmas isn't helping. I just realized that it's my best-friend-from-BC's birthday today, and the totally awesome card I got her way back in August (because it was so fitting for her) is still sitting in my desk because I forgot to send it, and it's not like I have her mailing address anyway! Grr. I can't think of any presents to buy, and most of the people I know are fairly financially comfortable so what the heck could I buy them that they haven't already gone and bought themselves? Oh, right I'm supposed to buy something meaningful ...like WHAT exactly??? Why are presents such a big deal anyway? And why do I always feel bad when people spend more money on me than I did on them? Or they managed to find me a meaningful gift which I couldn't do the same back? And just WHEN am I supposed to get all this shopping done anyway when I work like 350 days a year in a camp in the middle of freaking Egypt (it might as well be)?? Oh, and just WTF is growing on my Orchid Dottyback? Where's that hole to hide in? I know it's around here somewhere...I found it a couple weeks ago. When I work 15 hour days for weeks on end all I want to do is RELAX when I'm home. And home? Where's home again? I seem to have lost it somewhere in my car. Only 4 more months...4 more months...sounds like an eternity. *sigh*

sphelps 12-07-2010 06:42 PM

Geez Myka, plan ahead. If you got time to buy fish you got time to buy a few presents. Waiting until the last minute never works.

PS what did you get me for Christmas?

Murminator 12-07-2010 07:09 PM

6 weeks into sledding season haven't even started my sled yet .....damn work

Myka 12-07-2010 07:13 PM

Steve, this IS planning ahead! I always have to plan ahead because I never know when my next days off will be, and they are always unplanned. Christmas is 2 weeks away, and I have half my shopping done. I'm just not satisfied with most of the stuff I bought!

I got you a "I <3 MY REX" fridge magnet.

sphelps 12-07-2010 07:14 PM

Jon Montgomery is a cool guy, maybe I'll try skeleton one day.

Myka 12-07-2010 07:20 PM

Steve, you're supposed to give me at least 7 minutes to edit, re-edit, and repeat. I have to edit it at least 4-6 times before it is ready for final posting. ;)

sphelps 12-07-2010 07:24 PM

Haha I do that to sometimes.

Ahhh I was wondering why I love my REX? Did I miss something?

sphelps 12-07-2010 07:34 PM

All I want for Christmas is a house and an English Bulldog, is that too much to ask?

zum14 12-07-2010 07:50 PM

I totally agree with you on the whole Christmas front. I can't get into the whole view own here or it will just get deleted. We have a draw in my family and the words from my mother are its $50 and here's the list from the person. What's the point. Might as well just trade money and go buy what you want. That and she doesn't actually know what Christmas is and is only celebrating the corporate holiday of spending money. I'd better stop I've already probably said too much. Im not a total grinch. People just refuse to see what this holiday has turned into.

Four Christmases ..... if you've never watched it you're missing out......I for one never put up a Christmas tree until my kids were born..Should be a Christmas rule... no one over the age of 15 is allowed gifts...do ya really need one????? BAAAA!!.....( grandparents have a special exemption)

sphelps 12-07-2010 09:29 PM

Wow, is it really that hard or too much trouble to buy a few gifts for your family once a year? I mean yeah you don't need gifts but realistically it's the thought that counts so something, big or small, is always better than nothing.

Christmas is the only time I get together with the whole family at once and I for one enjoy surprising everyone with a little something, it's fun! Yeah it's difficult sometimes but anything good takes effort just like a fish tank.

jorjef 12-07-2010 09:37 PM

I will be the first to say no but does anyone really celebrate Christ..mas for the real reason? ( go to church etc.) I like the getting together part, give a hug and a kiss and tell family you love them. No It's not too hard or too much trouble....Just in my eyes not what it's all about... We live with enough excess in our lives why heap more on...Dismounting soap box...

Sorry to hear that, I was hoping it would be something I could help with or knew a connection, unfortunately I don't have any direct connections in those trades but if I hear of something I'll let you know. If you're looking for something different with job security you could look into Standen's here in town, they have never laid off anyone since they opened in the early 1900s and they are usually looking for people in various positions. If the company looks like something you would be interested in let me know.

I feel the stress of buying something. I enjoy the giving part, I just get stressed out about not buying the right thing and wasting money on something they won't use in comparison to buying them something useful. Then I get stressed because my inlaws spend huuuuuge amounts of money on gifts, and my (our) gifts back seem so incomparable, and I feel pressured to spend more than I am comfortable with.

I actually had quite a good time shopping for 6 hours today, and I got most of it done! :)

Now, the family part...I LOVE that part! The big dinner, a bunch of family over, happy occasion, good times, and don't forget all the fun decorations!

In the past I have also given out stockings (aka wool socks) filled with street goodies for the homeless that I give out on Christmas Eve. I always kept track of how much I spent buying gifts, and I would spend the same amount on my Homeless Stockings. I haven't don't that in the last few years though.

Sent you a PM.

I have an over-abundance of job offers this week, I really wish I could give them out to friends and people I know who need work/money/etc. Too bad they're not so transferable.

Random thought for the day; it sucks when you're trying to get your coffee cup lid off and you punch yourself in the face. Although in my own defence, I'd laugh if I saw it too.

Aquattro 12-08-2010 06:17 PM

GMAC sucks....

menno 12-09-2010 01:12 PM

Three posts required?

menno 12-09-2010 01:13 PM

I am new and just want to come look, chat around and see what's for sale as I start planning

menno 12-09-2010 01:15 PM

Because you don't know which questions to ask if you don't I've anything, and it's hard to offer advice if you have never done anything.

My apologies for the three random posts. Looking forward to hanging out on here though!

I guess they got one thing right... the sensation matches the quality.
