interesting responses :-)

I got the idea for the poll question from my 3 year old daughter. She recently learned to ask, "Are you happy or are you sad" from pre-school and all freaking month she's been asking me, "Daddy are you HAPPY?!", "Daddy are you SAD?!" I figured I'd apply that question to the board

Life is much simpler when you're 3. There's not really anything in between Happy and Sad

Reefer Rob 11-30-2012 04:41 AM

Darn! Outsmarted by a 3 year old again!

Well, there is, but we've been told we can't use 'meh'

Your daughter will tell you there are happy thoughts between KD and hotdogs ...

Hmm, bad example
Ok, hows about between KD and brussel sprouts

mohammadali 11-30-2012 04:59 AM

reefwars 11-30-2012 05:04 AM

lpsreefer 11-30-2012 05:22 AM

My daughter doesn't know what meh is (yet) lol. Her life is simply happy, or sad :-)

.. And hotdogs. Hotdogs can go either way depending on where the dogs come from.. but I digress.

Haha me too but you learn by making mistakes so when you build a future tank it will be less work then hehe.

Mike-fish 11-30-2012 08:00 AM

3 tanks and still happy. Tank number 4 has me a little stressed do to the need to drill a total of 6 holes for it

Douglas 11-30-2012 10:37 AM

Sad....Sad...Sad.....Browning SPS, makes me sad. Darn new LED lighting.

Dearth 11-30-2012 11:30 AM

Two-fold answer ....my nieces love my tank love the colours and the fishes in it and want me to get more fish and coral

My I like my tank but always want more more more but need money lots of it to get what I want

rhody605 11-30-2012 12:16 PM

I'm happy now. After turn around from 6 months ago. Lesson learned don't feed lots if the tank can't naturally support the nutrient input. Since cutting back everything has rebounded.

And happy happy happy. (Duck dynasty)

Happy enough to gather more gear for the upgrade. Can someone say bubble king.

Coleus 11-30-2012 03:15 PM

happy and feel stupid at the same time :-)

Seriak 11-30-2012 03:16 PM

I am happy enough. I do have to deal with the occasional zoa eating nudi or aiptasia, but overall I am happy to be back in the hobby and most corals are growing. Now if I can only figure out why my Alk is always so low and how much I actually have to dose to get it back up.

Sadly, if I add new fish they die a few days after. Yet all my current livestock live n swim just fine..... Corals great, WC every second week, levels bang on....

Sadly confused and not happy

Sad because my tank looks like arse and my colonies are dying one by one. Meh because I have no time to deal with it and frankly I don't know what I could do even if I knew what was going on. I often feel like I've hit a wall with this hobby. I was hoping a bit of a hiatus might help but so far its just showing me that I am going to have less and less time for this hobby as time goes by.

Some days I'm happy & some days I'm sad.
Because sps takes months to color up but can brown out almost overnight it's always a roller coasters of emotions. In all my years of keeping sps I have yet to have a time when everything in the tank is all happy at the same time since the corals come from different regions of the globe and different ocean depths. That said there are still enough "happy" pieces to give me a small grin most days but not today.

What are your Ca & Mag levels at? You need to find the balance.

ensquire 11-30-2012 05:07 PM

Happy with an overwhelming sense of "Why the hell didn't I get the 120 instead of the 90"

Palmer 11-30-2012 05:12 PM

I said sad but I guess concerned would be a better description for me. Having been on maintenance phase with my tank for the last 10 months or so I haven't paid the tank as much special attention. Colonies have gotten closer and closer and started to fight. All of the little extra things I did before to get the tank 5 % better I have let go by the wayside. My recent frag sale has gotten me to spend more time working on the tank and trying to make some improvements. I'm not sad overall on my tank just at my level of attention for awhile.

Snufflupagus 11-30-2012 05:25 PM

Currently happy :) But its the start of the month and that means equipment cleaning...frustration will be on the list of emotions come tomorrow.

Calcium is at 420 and MG is at at 1100. I have been working at getting my Mag up as well.

PoonTang 11-30-2012 10:51 PM

Sad Sad Sad. Corals dieing left and right. Fish seem happy enough tho. In fact if anyone wants to buy a fully stocked 120G just send me a message......

Reef_Geek 11-30-2012 11:08 PM

my feelings are cyclical in inverse with the stock market. ie wish I didn't blow my discretionary spending on aquarium junk when the market is good, and glad I didn't blow my discretionary spending on long shot stocks (but on aquariums instead) when the stocks suck.

Aw. I want one! Only because I don't have a display right now... And the construction of my fish room is difficult. Even though I am fairly good with building and tools... I still feel as if i'm slightly over my head at all times lol

globaldesigns 11-30-2012 11:45 PM

After many years of frustration, death of corals (SPS) and lots of $$$ trying everything from snake oil to proven techniques, I can finally say I am happy and love to show it off!

+1 LOL

Samw 12-01-2012 12:20 AM

Currently happy. But if this poll was conducted 6 months ago when my tanked crashed and was covered with dinoflagellates, i would have said sad. If the poll had happy/sad percentages, then mine would be 60% happy. :)

brotherd 12-01-2012 01:39 AM

:twised:Sad. I'm in the same boat as a few others here. When I have the time I have no money. When I have the money I have no time. Tank is still dry...

jagermaier 12-01-2012 06:26 PM

Happy with my display but sad I'm running out of space!

KineticReef 01-22-2013 03:55 PM

I'm definitely happy with my display, but I'm never fully satisfied. There is always another coral I NEED to add ;)

Xadieu 01-24-2013 03:39 PM

I love how my dt is coming along now looking better every week. I love it.

Spyd 01-24-2013 03:48 PM

Overall, I am happy with my tank. All it needs is time. Lots of nice little sticks everywhere that need to start growing! I'm a little impatient...

Slow and steady wins the race. But I enjoy watching my corals grow because it's hard work I had to put in to get the results.

sit back, bust open a bag of popcorn and just watch things grow. To me this is one of the most satisfying parts of the hobby. Incidentally this is also one of the most annoying and uninspiring and de-motivating parts of the hobby.
