lastlight 06-18-2012 05:35 AM

woohoo looking great so far! shouldn't there be a lot more coral moving over?

SeaHorse_Fanatic 06-18-2012 06:55 AM

Looks awesome Marie. What are the dimensions on this beauty again? I think it was something like 8' x 30' x 2' tall? Sweet tank.

What your lighting?

I figured if I have to transfer the fish I may as well treat the ich at the same time

The tank is 8' by 24" by 30" tall and the eurobracing makes it very hard to work on
For lighting I'm still using my metal halides. There is one pendent waiting at the bus depot for me, another is still on the old display for the fish and there are 2 lighting the new tank in the pictures

marie 08-04-2012 02:07 PM

The first resident in the new tank,

Leah 08-04-2012 04:24 PM

It looks so amazing...love how you did your aqua-scaping. Just Beautiful!!

marie 08-26-2012 04:22 AM

Fish have made it to the display tank.
Survivers of the quarantine process, copperband butterfly, female mandarin, solar wrasse.
Lost, achilles tang (I think the stress of being in a small tank finally got to him) male mandarin (starved to death) 2 other fairy wrasses and 3 flasher wrasses
I went with hyposalinity to treat ich.....In hindsight I should of just gone with copper and got it over with quickly

I'd love to see another as whacko as Doofus ... he was So cool ( sorry to bring it up again )

SeaHorse_Fanatic 08-26-2012 06:31 AM

Ouch Marie. So all the fairy & flasher wrasses I brought up on the last trip didn't make it out of QT. That's really too bad. Next trip up, give me a wish list of fish/corals & I'll drive them up for you.

Anthony

The solar fairy wrasse made it through fine.

Coralgurl 08-26-2012 03:41 PM

Beauty of a set up! Looks amazing! Sorry for all the losses, qting is hard and you did your best!

christyf5 08-26-2012 07:17 PM

Sorry to hear about the loss of Doofus (and the other fish of course). The tank does look wonderful though.

michika 08-27-2012 03:39 PM

Your new tank looks great!

I'm sorry about Doofus, he was pretty much the Canreef Mascot for years.

PoonTang 08-28-2012 09:45 PM

Beautiful setup Marie. It's going to warrant another road trip to Powell in the future I'm sure.
RIP Doofus, you will be missed. :(

Could spend hours watching that tank!

fishoholic 09-21-2012 01:31 PM

Looks great!

marie 10-11-2012 05:48 AM

As you might notice from the following fish list I'm keeping most of the fish on the small size. I want to mimic a real reef with numerous small fish, all looking very busy

Fish list so far
blonde naso tang
copperband butterfly
12 green chromis
3 helfrichi firefish
solar fairy wrasse
flasher wrasse
female mandarin
6 orchid dottybacks
clown fish
Just added a lubbocks fairy wrasse tonight......I love that all the fish are peaceful enough, they never paid any attention to the newcomer at all and within minutes he was swimming with the rest like he had been there for months

SeaHorse_Fanatic 10-11-2012 07:18 AM

Looks great Marie. Nice fish list.

marie 01-09-2013 11:26 PM

My Fish stock is complete.....in fact I now have too many

Yellow tang
powder blue tang
blonde naso tang
copperband butterfly
13 green chromis
3 helfrichi firefish
2 regular firefish
2 solar fairy wrasses
lubbocks fairy wrasse
koi fairy wrasse
3 flasher wrasses
female mandarin
6 orchid dottybacks
Picasso clown fish
Sea Goldie anthias (Pseudanthias hutchi)
Lawn mower blennie
royal gramma
sharknose gobie

I knew someone here would understand me

It's such a novel experience to be able to add 1 more fish without it being persecuted......I just can't seem to help myself

Chaloupa 01-10-2013 03:57 AM

THAT's too many fish??? EEEEEEK.....I have 5 LARGE yellow tangs, Tennenti Tang, Sailfin Tang, Vlamingi Tang, Potters Angel, couple of Wrasses, Golden Dwarf Eel, Mandarin Dragonette, 3 Picasso Clownfish, and a few others......so I think you're all good!!!! Plus I have plans to add many more! It sure is fun being able to add fish and more than just a few!

I hear you Marie. I haven't added a new fish for ages because I know what the big bullies in the tank will do. They ripped up my 5" Chocolate Tang pretty bad in a matter of minutes. I got him out before they killed it but it was not at all pleasant. Big, mature fish may look nice but they sure are nasty!
