So true! I could of bought a sony 46" LCD flat screen tv for $100 less then what I paid for all my salt

reefgirl189 12-28-2011 03:46 PM

Some new MH bulbs
10 snails and a peppermint shrimp to start my clean up crew.
Also got a couple soft corals, a radiocative zoa frag and a "delightful paly" just for something to look at and hopefuly fill out some of the empty space in the tank.

What I wanted was some new powerheads but sadly Santa didn't bring any.

blacknife 12-28-2011 06:21 PM

Nothing. I was on call and nothing online grabbed my interest, perhaps i will get lucky this week

parkinsn 12-28-2011 07:50 PM

I hit up Dave at Concept, thanks again;

1- Radion w/ haning kit
1- Vertex 100Gpd RO/DI
1- Bubble Magus NAC7

Miscellaneous power heads, heaters, food ect.

Pretty good haul this year.

A little sump design and I should be back up and running soon  Stay tuned for the build thread to come.

Other than TVs this year was really weak for boxing day sales. I got way more and better electronics in the month leading up to Christmas and there were no lineups. A few places in Canada had Black Friday deals which was awesome because the prices were good but there was no rush to deal with. I spent $300 @ J&L and $25 for a new mouthguard for hockey, that was the extent of boxing day, haha.

Personally it feels like true "boxing day" disappeared along with A&B Sound.

ponokareefer 12-30-2011 12:27 AM

I managed to pick up an 8" squamosa today on a Boxing Week sale. It is covered in purple mushrooms and green paly's. I was't planning on getting another clam, but just couldn't resist.

Delphinus 12-30-2011 01:11 AM

I think that's going to need a picture... get to it! :p (Sounds awesome BTW :) )

fishytime 12-30-2011 01:15 AM

I agree squared..... Hard to resist the lure of the clam(BAs Etown had a bunch that I passed on)....and that does call for a pic

Hear hear !!!

Only $300 huh ?
I wish. I dropped over $800 just @ J&L, and I still have to buy a tank

Well - I spent a few bucks this year....

Got 6 new Giesemann T5's, some additives and supplements and yup, some livestock too.
I'll switch to pictorial view for the livestock:

New arrivals include the Sarcophyton, Favites and the declivis:

Well....Ok, the sun coral and little red star I acutally got a couple of weeks earlier but I thought I'd share anyhow
http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...60588556_n.jpg

and another one of the declivis, just cause I love him so much

Sorry the pics are not the greatest...learning how to take aquarium photos is just one more challenge I'm working on

Cheers

*gasp* !!  Tres cool!!!!

Where did you score that little piece of awesomeness?

I love declivis (I'm a total butterfly nut really, but these are in my "top 5" if not "top 3").

Thanks
J&L - 30% off on boxing day
Actually they had quite a few butterfly fish in stock....collare, rafflesii, falcula, auriga, CBB, longnose....
They had 3 declivis...but one had a small wound and was not looking so good.
Mine is feeding great on mysis and pellets and so far not harassing any of my corals. I'm keeping my fingers crossed he maintains his manners.

Cheers,
PatD

Loved JL's deals!!! Got 2 energy bar 8's, probe module 1, ph probe and a few other little thing and 50 Mexican turbos from kevin! This city was on fire!!! And visions had some kick ass deals on speakers too!

bignose 12-30-2011 03:57 AM

Nothing!

Delphinus 12-30-2011 04:11 AM

Aw man, that's one thing about J&L, they take the N&N page offline for the holidays so us out-of-towners have no idea what's in store. 3 declivis! Geeez, I'd have been badly tempted too had I known.

Be careful though, with butterflies they can be model citizens for a very long time and then suddenly decide to start picking at stuff. I was watching my pyramid's (supposedly reef-safe butterflies, har har) pick at my gigantea carpets earlier this week. The female clown was defending her anemone though, and the interest seems to have waned since.

I'll take one after the weekend as the mushrooms are still trying to get used to the LED's.

Felicia's new seahorses from J&L (Boxing Day special - picked up yesterday after setting up her RSM).

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...c/DSC_0104.jpg

Lousy pic but here's the Blue Flasher wrasse and Ornate Leopard Wrasse I picked up for the seahorse tank as a compatible tank-mate. All four tank mates are already eating mysis.

SeanPrest 12-30-2011 06:46 PM

juv Emperor angle, elegance coral, nice zoo rock, green bubble tip(traded for frags), frogspawn, bubble coral (in my sons tank), 3 anthias(daughters tank) and for me a lawnmower blenny as my lunar wrasse eats any shelled critters i put in for alge cleanup. all in three

Wrasse's in with seahorse's? Never heard of that being good. Don't they eat the food before the seahorse's can get to it?

DanG 01-01-2012 04:16 PM

2 boxes of salt that was on sale at my LFS, 24GB of ram for my computer and some extra bits to help me get my tank running properly after my move.

The flasher wrasse is a delicate eater. The seahorses are actually very aggressive eaters, which is surprising but they chase down the mysis and not just hang out waiting for the food to drift over to them. I wouldn't put a fairy wrasse in there, though, because they are very aggressive eaters compared to leopards and flashers.

I've kept seahorses (almost all were wild caughts that I trained to eat mysis before the CITES ban) since 1984.

I also have 2 other sw tanks to put any fish that don't work out with the seahorse, but so far, the ponies are fattening up very nicely. Very impressed with their feeding response considering in the shop (J&L), they were less aggressive feeders.

Here's an article about what are good tankmates, can work, and shouldn't go into a seahorse tank. I've have Flashers and Leopard wrasses in my other tanks and they are very good citizens.

Hmmm... On Boxing Day I scored:

1.) a pound of great bacon and 6 or so churros
2.) too many alcholic drinks to even be able to count
3.) Sun Sun Sun

HEHE, I felt left out, as I was away on holidays, some great scores were found I see.
