There is some literary douchebaggery going on here. First of all I doubt many people here have the background in language to really be in the finger pointing chair, I know I don't. My freaking English instructor in my Mechanical Engineering Degree needed to look things up from time to time. Not to mention there is differences depending on where your English is coming from. Go to England and see if your commanding view of language gets you far there. The second issue with the topic is we are Canadian, there is a plethora of diversity in this Country. Now many will say that you need to learn the methods of the country you live in, which is true to some point. Hopefully there aren't people like that when you travel abroad and are unfamiliar with the customs and language.

There were a lot of "you's" in there that are not directed at anyone. Speaking in generalities.

This thread is aimed towards those who dont know the easy stuff. such as the difference between your and you're. I doubt your instructor ever looked up something so basic

p.s. I'd like to break the 1000 post mark already

reefwars 12-07-2011 10:38 PM

Those concepts were not always basic to you either. But I appreciate you taking the time out out your day to grade our essays on Canreef.

I dont understand why you're taking this all so seriously and why you seem so offended by this.

Sorry to misdirect you as I am not offended at all. I just find its slightly pretentious to give grammar lessons to an online forum. I guess that sentence will upset as well, nothing meant by it. Better yet Ill just tap out from this one all together.

lol I would have never thought that knowing the difference between you're and your would be considered impressive.

I thought that the fact that the title said "edumacation" would indicate that this was not meant to be taken seriously

It may be the lounge but it would really be nice if some of the posters could watch their language on a family oriented aquarium board.
Thanks

Thanks to all for the laugh at the end of a really crappy day!!! This thread is hilarious!

And for those from Newfoundland, I appreciate the written word, you guys are hard to understand when you speak - you have your own language, and funny slang terms for things....like "gutted" for hungry....

i doubt that marko started this thread to belittle anyone or to offend anyone......im pretty sure hes refering to people who use their phones and dont correct their spelling...hes not making fun of people who cant read or calling any particular person out.....i dont see the harm, maybe you could elaborate????

reefwars 12-07-2011 11:21 PM

I did work in Fort Mac a couple of years ago and we had a couple of guys from Newfoundland doing some work for us. My boss met up with them with questions - they had a discussion between themselves, my boss could not understand a word they said, turned to him and spoke perfectly fine. They knew he wouldn't understand them, but everyone laughed about it....Like the English, there's the cockney for the north, proper in the south...the east and the west...plus everything in between.

you'll find a lot of people on here have no patients for stuff like this due to a specific idiot who used to be on the board years ago.

The Grizz 12-08-2011 02:54 AM

Funky_Fish14 12-08-2011 03:03 AM

Marko,

It would be spectacular if you could learn to word, spell, and punctuate all of your posts correctly before criticizing anyone else for it. You complain about people misspelling simple words and having poor punctuation... what the heck? In this thread only, you missed a minimum of 10 periods, botched capitalization (used when not required or missed when required) several times, and have a couple sentences that are poorly worded. Additionally, you incorrectly tried to correct someone else's grammar.

Your incredibly whiny on the forum... 'can-it' man.

All the best,

Chris

P.S. If you are serious about the 'issue', do not slip up in writing quality yourself, and if you do not feel the matter is serious, stop correcting everyone over it. ;)
