Finished the all important egg create on top of the overflow (however I'm sure the little gobies who will first be living in this tank will find their way though :mmph:)
http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...g/DSC_0271.jpg Made some egg create stands. One for the pump to sit on (hose for the pump was a few inches to short to reach the bottom) http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...g/DSC_0268.jpg one for the skimmer http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...g/DSC_0269.jpg skimmer taking a vinegar bath http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...g/DSC_0272.jpg |
Did a power out situation (I don't have the loc-line pieces I need to raise the water level higher) to make sure the sump wouldn't over flow, needless to say I have an inch to spare, cutting it close though.
http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...g/DSC_0273.jpg http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...g/DSC_0275.jpg |
Added salt
http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...g/DSC_0277.jpg Which raised the water level a lot more then I thought it would. The black line is where the water level was, and I drew an arrow to show where the level rose to. http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...g/DSC_0278.jpg |
Looks nice it's coming together! Is that a marineland tank? looks like it... they're nice.
As for the stand for the return pump... I've plumbed my last 2 tanks with the return pump dangling from the piping so the bottom doesn't touch the glass. Helped a lot with noise levels on my eheim 1262 and well... my current laguna pond pump doesn't have a flat base anyways lol. |

Not sure what brand of tank it is. I bought it from another canreef member. I'll check it when I'm at home and see if it says anything on the tank. |
Back to froggy pic's and my new feather duster
Excuse me mister duster I'm coming though http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...h/DSC_0250.jpg What you taking pictures again? http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...h/DSC_0251.jpg Here get my good side http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...h/DSC_0254.jpg feather duster http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...h/DSC_0257.jpg |
Doug's zoas
http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...h/DSC_0252.jpg http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...h/DSC_0253.jpg Mystery coral that was on the zoa frag plug above, but was stinging them so I broke it off. http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...DSC_0256-1.jpg |
Finally got around to hanging my T5 light over my 80g (thanks to my Mom for helping) and got the light (that was over the 80g) up over the 34g.
let there be light  http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...g/DSC_0281.jpg http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...g/DSC_0280.jpg Now to rinse some sand  |

Tested the salinity and it was at 1.030 :surprise: Oops! transferred some RO water and got it to 1.025 and took some water out to make room for the sand.
Hello sand storm! Skimmer is on line now, turned down low, I'm kinda paranoid cause I don't want it to overflow. http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...g/DSC_0282.jpg Once the sand has settled I'll eventually add the rock  |
Thats a sweet little setup
|
Thanks Blom
Sand is in and water is clearing up  http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...g/DSC_0304.jpg Now I just need to motivate myself and move the rock in  |
I missed this thread somehow. I love the new setup! Froggy's are sooooo cute! Hey, I should put one in MY nano!
How are you liking the BM? I haven't ever looked at them or considered them before...looks a lot like a SWC or Skimz. Seems like having the pump in the skimmer body is the new fad for small skimmers. I like this new fad...makes nano sumps a lot easier! :D |

The BM skimmer was orginally supposed to be a small Nac 3.5 but Dave (concept aquatics) didn't have them in stock so I got upgraded to a Nac-7, got an excellent deal on it which I couldn't turn down. A bit over kill (rated for 130-185g) but I figure if I ever upgrade I wont need a new skimmer  |
 Always thinking of the upgrade! That's what I was thinking when I bought an SWC 120 cone for my 20 gallon nano! :D

Oh and you should totally put a frogfish in your nano :thumb: |
Rock is in  The "Ideas for aquascapeing thread" had these pic's in it
http://reefbuilders.com/files/2010/0...-aquascape.jpg http://www.3reef.com/forums/attachme...1&d=1297280257 Which inspired me to do this (took a few tries and a small puncture in my finger to it get to right and fairly stable). I am pretty happy with the way it turned out. Water isn't entirely clear yet as I just finished scaping not to long ago but you get the idea  http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...g/DSC_0311.jpg http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...g/DSC_0314.jpg http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...g/DSC_0318.jpg http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...g/DSC_0319.jpg |
That looks pretty darn sweet!!
|
Very very sweet, that is perfect for that size of tank, nice job Doug's girly

Nice work how is that thing held together?

Just spent a lot of time tetris"ing" the rock on top of each other until I could press down on it without it being too tippy. |
So fill me in here, is this tank right near your front door? I thought the groggy was behind the bar? You might have posted it earlier but I am to lazy to star at post one  What all to do plan to put in this tank with Mr Kermit?
|
Nice build! I love that froggy too! I have the bm skimmer and its pretty good. I got it from my brother. The only complaint is that the meshwheel break (I'm not sure if yours came with the meshwheel or if they have upgraded to the needle style wheel, but I would recommend having a spare on hand just in case).
Looking forward to seeing more of this cute little guy  |

My frogfish is in a 10g tank that is by my bar downstairs. My 34g is in my main living-room, upstairs by the front door. The 34g will be home to Doug's tankmates from his 25g, so he doesn't have to move his 25g and 110g all at the same time. Then after he is fully moved in and he has his 260g running (wont be until after March 2012 sometime) and has added on a 30g ish tank to that system, then we'll move his fish and coral over (the ones that will be in my 34g) to his small tank, and then move my froggy to my 34g. |

When I tried to put a GFIC plug in for the tank (couldn't get it to work) I noticed that there was 2 extra black wires (capped) in the plug outlet. That outlet is right below the light switch so maybe there is someway to connect it to that :noidea: |
