Has anyone tried a porcelain crab with these?
|
Great question Tony! I was wondering te same thing! I have a couple maxi minis in my tank and was going to take home a little porcelain to see if it would tolerate it.

It's good reassurance though, thanks for that. I bought one tonight and ushered him close to mine. He hasn't gone in yet though but sitting close by as if thinking of it. |

How can you have them all bleaching? do you have any trace of copper or something maybe in your water? What is your salinity and how are you testing it?
They do move and quite a bit if the light is not suitable for them. A video of my maxi mini and the porcelaine crab feeding. It's so cute to see them together: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=UTcHdzKWJD4 Quote:

That's interesting. I thought maybe mine had bleached because I had added NP pellets to the tank a few weeks before, but now that casts doubt on that it having anything to do with the pellets.
Mine, after about 8 months in my tank, went from looking like the first one pictured by jorjef at the top of page 6, to looking like the first one pictured by jorjef at the bottom of page 6. This happened in a space of about 2 weeks. It eats fine and does not move from its spot. I will try to post some before/after pictures later when I get chance. Jorjef are those the same anemones? You say some of them are new so I'm not sure if that one in particular is new as well. |
I just got one of these last night!! Very cool, but the kids think it looks like a mushroom...noticed it had spread out a bit and moved this morning, is red with green tips. Got it for my clowns, but I guess they won't host these??? Still pretty cool! Didn't realize they had such a following!!

Where are you finding them with such variation by the way? All the ones I see up around here all have the exact same colour/patterns.
I actually meant the first picture of each grouping, sorry if that didn't come out right. Specifically these two pictures: This one: http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d.../carpet003.jpg (Mine started off looking like this) And this one: http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d...MjY2LmpwZw.jpg (which mine now looks like as of two weeks ago) I was curious if these two pictures are of the same anemone or two different ones? |
The first pic was my very first one and was bought locally in Regina. The second I bought from Kelly at the Reef Shoppe a week or two ago, so no they are different. Kelly has pretty good luck in getting a good variety of colors and patterns. I bought some of the others from Bayside in Saskatoon. The newest four were two from the Reef Shoppe, two from Bayside.

Also in case that some people here don't know about it, they are extremely easy to frag. Simply cut them in half or in 4 part with a sharp razor blade or a scalpel and they will heal in a few weeks and you'll have 2 or 4 of them.
I never dare do this to mine though, but they are supposed to be very hardy and heal well. |
Mini Maxi in Metro Vancouver???
WOW!!! These bad boys are sexy!!!
Anyone know where in Metro Vancouver I can get one or a few of these??? |

Sorry didn't see this post. It took about 2-3 weeks for all mine to bleach. They all were placed on the end of my rock work in a shaded area under 250w de bulbs. I also put a few in my frag tank under T5's also in a shded area. All have bleached on me and have never moved more then a inch from where I placed them. I have had them for about a year now and all still are bleached. Like Tony I have been running BIO Beads the whole time. I do realize these are low light anemones . Chris |
These guys are sooo ADDICTIVE!!!
I found some at King Ed, ended up buying all 3!!! Nice colours too, Purple with Green edges. Now I want MORE MORE MORE!!! If anyone's got any with different colours in Vancouver, I'm in for one or two or maybe MORE! Haha!! |
They just got 6 more in at King ED
|
Any idea what colours they got in? I tried phoning, but nobody is picking up there.
|
Not to sure they were still in the bag when I got there. What I could see they looked very similar to Grizz's last photo.
Chris |
Thanks Chowder! I finally got through to K.E. and they said they are the same colours as the ones I bought, same supplier.
For now I'm still on the hunt for more Mini Maxi's!!! Haha! |
J&L and OA have them in too.
|
J&L had a orange/red one and a few others that I can remember. The ones at OA are hard to tell what they are under there lighting.
|
A better shot of my 2 newest ones, god I love these thing!
