Here are the best I could get. I didn't turn off quite all of the flow as I have a pump that's ready to fail & didn't feel like messing with it today...as I am working in the basement & pretty dirty right now. Also I don't agree that it is red. It's Brown with orangish pink circles with blue centre's with peach coloring. Either way it is a cool clam.

If it is really red than you have something quite rare I would imagine. You should post a picture in the clam/mollusk forum on RC and see what they say.

Again...nice stuff.

Maybe later i'm not that concerned about it right now. All that matter's is he's happy. & I find getting on RC a challenge sometimes do to volume, & I haven't hooked up the broadband yet.

I started with 5 now I have 4. The 1 that died was a pinner from the beginning & I think the others didn't let him compete for food. There may have also been bullying, but if there was it was minimal because I didn't see it. I've had them for close to 1.5 years as they were the 2nd addition to the tank after the clowns.

scounts confirm it....its a squam:wink:....and a nice one at that......be prepared....that clam could get to be the size of a VW beetle:lol:

Thx Doug, if I actually do decide not to bother with the big setup, maybe you might like him for your new digs up in the chuck.

tang daddy 11-16-2011 05:38 PM

Nice growth on the sps and cool clams, your system seems really happy and stable. I can't wait to grow out my sps again, I really enjoy watching them grow even if it's slow!

spawn 11-26-2011 04:00 AM

one with just the actinics... it's getting full in there. dosing issues aside.

Myka 11-26-2011 09:21 PM

Nice! did you solve your problem with dosing?

badAZZlars 12-11-2011 02:10 AM

No not yet, the sal. I think has stabilized.... but the levels have again dropped after a period of ten days. I was away for 8 days. tonight I upped the levels & the dose by another 6ml daily for both, but i'm getting sort of back to where I started having all the problems... stuff looks still quite good after another absence with the exception of 1 deep water acro. I have a green plating monti that has hit it pretty hard & it's started to stn. so goes the coral war:)

Hope to have the basement tank setup in the late winter or early spring. the drywall in the basment just got finished, so a painting I will go in the next week.

lastlight 12-11-2011 03:27 AM

shots like that really put things into perspective. i thought my last tank was getting crowded but turns out i was only half full  good thing your rockwork slopes (i think it appears to) otherwise your colonies up top would be suckin' the light up from the bottom guys!

looks RAD.

The Grizz 12-12-2011 04:42 AM

HOLY CRAP!! How the helz did I miss this one!! Absolutely AMAZING, hope to have a tank like this some day.

No it's pretty much %^&#%^&# completely. I'm pretty sick of it. Did WC on sunday sal was @ .026 today up to .0275. Yes I calibrated it on sun & checked it tonight. Sun. levels were at 410-420 elos. alk 9 Mg 1400. Today 360 8.5 1400. this is &$#&#$&##$ B.S. If people wanna makes some offers on any colonies or stuff in the pics go for it I'm sick of &#$^%&#%^&# around with this thing. Also will likely post the big tank in the Basement. It's lobsterboy's old 150 display, has sump, stand, zeo reactor a moon light, a couple larger pumps, & probably a couple more things will post list this weekend. Yes I'm committing to the sale of it. I paid $800 for all of it, & that's what I'm asking. Good thing I didn't go any further with it. The tank room will serve well as a storage room.

Colonies in the 65 pictured in the Growth sequence, will be sold on the rocks they are on, there are 3-6 maybe more colonies per rock, 2 of which have clams. Bring pails & cash. Serious offers only.

dammit no man!

Don't the corals still all look rad? Get as stable as you can without killing yourself and enjoy how rad they look?

Triggz 12-15-2011 03:52 AM

+1!!

It would be a shame to see this tank ripped apart!

spawn 12-15-2011 03:55 AM

I know. it's not like I'm losing the program here. I will keep the basement tank unless it sells this weekend. I've just got way to much on my plate right now, I'm seeking a career change. My mom passed away 3 weeks ago, & I'm her executor so we're gonna be away almost every month for the next 6 months. Every time we go away it's a pain to have someone tank sit. So I think it's best for the current tank, & my sanity:) to shut it down. As for selling the big one, if it goes it'll make our future, bout 2 years out, way easier.... We've had a long term plan to live abroad for at least a year, hopefully indefinitely. We have plans to move to thailand or bali & try to get into the dive industry. As much as I love having the tank it's gonna have to come down in a couple years anyway. So that's basically it & the constant frustration I've been dealing with since july-aug.. Thx.

lastlight 12-15-2011 03:58 AM

I hope this isn't why you shook my hand so aggressively

I'm not saying I'm mortally wounded but you really caught me by surprise.

On a serious note sorry to hear about your mom.

spawn 12-15-2011 04:02 AM

It wasn't aggressively, it's just firm. Like I said, from being in the trades. ;)

lastlight 12-15-2011 04:03 AM

Lol yeah I know. Alright I'll leave ya alone

fishytime 12-15-2011 04:57 AM

sorry to hear Sean......both about your Ma and the tank:sad:

Triggz 12-15-2011 05:38 AM

I'm Sorry to hear that. I can understand and respect your reasons for shutting it down. It will be nice to see a new tank from you in the future...... That one didn't have much room left anyway

spawn 12-17-2011 02:51 AM

So yesterday I talked to a guy at BRS about my dosing issues, ther have "not been any complaints about their chems." On his recommendation I topped the levels up & turned the dose rate down to 1.25 ml per gal, as he was certain that precipitation was occurring.
Last night @ 8:45 Pm I had 420 Ca & 9.5 Alk
Tonight @ 8:45 360 Ca 6.7 alk
So anyways that obviously didn't work.... the doser will stay running at current levels & the coral is all for sale. sunday is a good day as stated I don't have time for this right know.

spawn 12-17-2011 02:51 AM

Thx. for the condolences guys.

lastlight 12-17-2011 04:11 AM

I don't recall what your mag is at but it affects the other two...

The Grizz 12-20-2011 03:03 AM

Are you still shutting her down Sean? It would be a shame, I would love to be able to grow SPS like this I'm still not having much luck except for a few frag in the office tank.

Any LPS / softies in there? My eyes can't get passed all the drool worthy SPS

SteveConn 12-20-2011 04:23 AM

Hi Sean

Since coming to this forum this past summer, I've been inspired by other members tanks, but especially been fascinated following this thread. How your tank looks, the coral combinations and the growth patterns! Its truly a stunner!
I am so sorry that things aren't going well for you right now. Hopefully after you resettle, you will get back to SW.
I know I'm addicted to SW (corals are like crack!!), I could never think of leaving it for good..in part, knowing what you have done with your tank, its kinda your fault  in part.
If you decide to sell, I am certain you will find good homes for your incredible colonies! If pieces break off, let a newbie like me buy them off ya as frags.
The forum has been a great resource! My SPS is growing like crazy. Hopefully at some point, I will be able to show off a great looking tank too!:question::question:

ALang 12-20-2011 02:54 PM

Wow. I'm sorry to hear about your Mom.
And you shutting down your fantabulous tank. Sad to see, but I also can sympathize.
I agree with Steve, hoping whomever buys the colonies can keep them going. And hopefully for you when the time comes for you to get back into the hobby.

spawn 02-12-2012 07:53 PM

Here are some new pics, just taken on the new iphone. Obviously I haven't shut it down. That being said I've certainly not done a whole lot either, I switched chems to eli's, raised the light & dropped the temp about a month & a half ago to 77, Ca is @ 400, Alk is @10, MG @ 1400. I sold a pink milli colony & a orange diji colony as well to see my clams again. I'm thinking I'll likely sell the big blue stag in the left centre of the FTS.
