Here are the best I could get. I didn't turn off quite all of the flow as I have a pump that's ready to fail & didn't feel like messing with it today...as I am working in the basement & pretty dirty right now. Also I don't agree that it is red. It's Brown with orangish pink circles with blue centre's with peach coloring. Either way it is a cool clam.

Nice growth on the sps and cool clams, your system seems really happy and stable. I can't wait to grow out my sps again, I really enjoy watching them grow even if it's slow!
|
one with just the actinics... it's getting full in there. dosing issues aside.

Absolutely stunning.
I bet that was a lot of time and effort. |
looks great!
|
Lol
"getting full" lol. Understatement I think
|
Looks good! I thought you lost a significant amount of your SPS...? They look good to me!

shots like that really put things into perspective. i thought my last tank was getting crowded but turns out i was only half full  good thing your rockwork slopes (i think it appears to) otherwise your colonies up top would be suckin' the light up from the bottom guys!

HOLY CRAP!! How the helz did I miss this one!! Absolutely AMAZING, hope to have a tank like this some day.

dammit no man!
Don't the corals still all look rad? Get as stable as you can without killing yourself and enjoy how rad they look? |
+1!!
It would be a shame to see this tank ripped apart! |
I know. it's not like I'm losing the program here. I will keep the basement tank unless it sells this weekend. I've just got way to much on my plate right now, I'm seeking a career change. My mom passed away 3 weeks ago, & I'm her executor so we're gonna be away almost every month for the next 6 months. Every time we go away it's a pain to have someone tank sit. So I think it's best for the current tank, & my sanity:) to shut it down. As for selling the big one, if it goes it'll make our future, bout 2 years out, way easier.... We've had a long term plan to live abroad for at least a year, hopefully indefinitely. We have plans to move to thailand or bali & try to get into the dive industry. As much as I love having the tank it's gonna have to come down in a couple years anyway. So that's basically it & the constant frustration I've been dealing with since july-aug.. Thx.

I hope this isn't why you shook my hand so aggressively
I'm not saying I'm mortally wounded but you really caught me by surprise. On a serious note sorry to hear about your mom. |
It wasn't aggressively, it's just firm. Like I said, from being in the trades. ;)
|
Lol yeah I know. Alright I'll leave ya alone
|
sorry to hear Sean......both about your Ma and the tank:sad:
|
I'm Sorry to hear that. I can understand and respect your reasons for shutting it down. It will be nice to see a new tank from you in the future...... That one didn't have much room left anyway

So yesterday I talked to a guy at BRS about my dosing issues, ther have "not been any complaints about their chems." On his recommendation I topped the levels up & turned the dose rate down to 1.25 ml per gal, as he was certain that precipitation was occurring.
Last night @ 8:45 Pm I had 420 Ca & 9.5 Alk Tonight @ 8:45 360 Ca 6.7 alk So anyways that obviously didn't work.... the doser will stay running at current levels & the coral is all for sale. sunday is a good day as stated I don't have time for this right know. |
Thx. for the condolences guys.

I don't recall what your mag is at but it affects the other two...

Are you still shutting her down Sean? It would be a shame, I would love to be able to grow SPS like this I'm still not having much luck except for a few frag in the office tank.
Any LPS / softies in there? My eyes can't get passed all the drool worthy SPS  |
Hi Sean
Since coming to this forum this past summer, I've been inspired by other members tanks, but especially been fascinated following this thread. How your tank looks, the coral combinations and the growth patterns! Its truly a stunner! I am so sorry that things aren't going well for you right now. Hopefully after you resettle, you will get back to SW. I know I'm addicted to SW (corals are like crack!!), I could never think of leaving it for good..in part, knowing what you have done with your tank, its kinda your fault  in part. If you decide to sell, I am certain you will find good homes for your incredible colonies! If pieces break off, let a newbie like me buy them off ya as frags. The forum has been a great resource! My SPS is growing like crazy. Hopefully at some point, I will be able to show off a great looking tank too!:question::question: |
Wow. I'm sorry to hear about your Mom.
And you shutting down your fantabulous tank. Sad to see, but I also can sympathize. I agree with Steve, hoping whomever buys the colonies can keep them going. And hopefully for you when the time comes for you to get back into the hobby. |
