Found Bristle worms in the refuge... that must of been some trip to get into there. Oh well... their a lot easier to pick off from in there.

Here's a shot of the tank just before the moon lights take over.

And finally there were a couple of additions into the tank. A hammer coral along with 2X acans. Only got a shot of two of the additions as the acclimated, but everyone is happy in the tank, opened up nicely and loves that acan plus.

The other acan is green and purple.

lol could be possible that bristle worm came with the cheato.

i think i have some in mine.

Blom 10-09-2011 04:35 PM

That would make sense, I just couldnt imagine him going over the overflow, through filter floss and activated carbon to then go through the maxijet 900 into the refuge. Then again who knows, Ive had a fresh water fish end up in a different room then the tank.

Tank is doing well... not a whole lot has changed. The 2x Acans, 3x Zoa's, Frogspawn and gsp are all doing awesome. The clown fish anger me though lol. They have decided that all they will choose to eat are the pods off the side of glass. Ive been trying to get them to eat pellets or flakes, to the point where I almost spiked my ammonia due to over feeding. No luck, they will only eat the pods. Good thing there is thousands upon thousands of them.

Thats good to know, thank you. So far its looking very happy in the tank, its already started to spread back over the rock it is on. Ill have to keep any eye on them as a quick read states that I may have trouble keeping this for an extended period of time.

My name is Tyson Bloom and I am addicted to zoas. 8 new frags came home with me today. Thanks to Doch for driving down to Edmonton to deliver 3 of them. Ill get some pics once they all open up... which some of them have.

So I was doing some night fishing in the tank to see how many bristle worms I could find when I noticed a little black a white snail cruising over my zoa's. A quick google search led me down the road of sundial snails, and their little trap door confirmed it. So pulled him out of the tank and noticed a couple wee little star fish, one with 5 legs and the other with 3. Asterina stars from what I can tell, but thats the end of the understanding. Ive read both views on this that they are harmless.... and that they eat zoas and maybe some sps. Just seeing if anyone else has any experience with them.

Nano 11-19-2011 04:23 PM

man you've got lots of nice Zoo's! I hope to do a nice zoo garden.. (once my tank gets in check.)

Blom 11-19-2011 04:28 PM

Thanks, I picked up 3 very nice frags from doch here on Canreef as well as a few from Ken and Blue World. It sounds as if he will be placing an order every 2 weeks from his supplier.

Thanks, tank is really starting to stabilize, not that its been an issue. I think the phosphates have finally leached out of that marco rock, most of the algae has receded back.

Well I have been gone for about a week visiting family for the holidays. I just got back in today and its amazing to see the growth in the tank. Tough to see changes when you look at it every day hour by hour. I cant believe how big and open the armor of god zoa's are right now. I was also a very lucky boy and was given a macro lens for Christmas (WOOOOOOHOOOOO!!!). I'm off to the in laws tomorrow but I hope to try the lens out tonight a little bit. On a more festive note:

Merry Christmas to everyone! I hope that you find the holidays joyful and full of friends and family.

Hello all,

Been a while since an update so I guess I should do one. Tank is fantastic other than the mysterious appearance of Aptasia. Ive started injecting them with boiling vinegar a few a day so the pH doesnt swing. So far it seems to be working. Anyways Ill post some pics, first the FTS and then a couple others. Also I have a few pics that Ive taken with my macro lens, not the best quality as Im still trying to figure it out.

FTS:

Armor Zoas:

Macro Shots, im still getting a little "fuzzyness" with the pics, like the camera isnt steady. Im also wondering if the curved glass on the JBJ is wrecking the shots. Ill test this out when I get back from my vacation.
