wow! amazing rockwork! I agree -- the shadows will definitely play in your advantage. Very clean look. Following for sure

anything other than chaeto that i should keep in my refugium?

Dez 04-04-2011 01:47 AM

With your lighting I think that you can do sps in certain places in your tank. Quite a few people are running gorgeous sps tanks with just T5s. You can always come grab some cheap sps frags from me and test them out.

thats exactly what i was thinking.... but you live sooooooo far from me. i live on 161 Ave :(

ensquire 04-04-2011 03:53 PM

I was at both of your places and it's not to far in my opinion .. LOL

MarkoD 04-06-2011 12:26 AM

I really want a monti pora. But how would I attach it to my rock so it grows out from a ledge?

MarkoD 04-18-2011 12:52 AM

update:

fish have ich :( treating with herbtana for a week now, seems to be helping

also hooked up a UV sterilizer

and today i got an MP40 :) can never have enough flow (now have koralia 4 wavemaker with 4 koralia 4s, a koralia 5 in the back and now the MP40 pushing across the front)

You can wedge a piece in your rock and over time it will encrust itself. If it's a frag on a plug it's easy, just glue the plug anywhere you like and watch it grow.

Heres my newest edition

72" aquamedic fixture.

4x 250 watt metal halide
4x 39 watt t5ho

heres a full tank shot with the lights installed

Cugio 06-28-2011 03:07 AM

That is beautiful. I love the rock arrangement and the new light.

Did you have to lose the canopy for the new fixture to fit?

MarkoD 06-28-2011 03:25 AM

Nope I opened the canopy and the fixture sits on top

MarkoD 07-17-2011 04:01 PM

so i was having problems with the lights heating the water to about 84F

so i installed 2 large computer fans to the back of the canopy and have decreased the temp to 80F while the halides are on.

http://i579.photobucket.com/albums/s...7at95633AM.png

i will be adding fans to the stand too and hopefully it'll bring the temp down a couple more degrees.

i also re plumbed the return to the opposite side of the overflow as i was finding that i had film forming on my water.

Nano 03-26-2012 06:25 PM

Yeah 3 sols.

75 white
100 blue

I don't really have much that I can frag, most of my sps are frags still
