Probably.

Guessing Mike is saying you're crazy for having so many tanks sitting around in reference to the "250gal to the right and behind that is 2 - 90s"

Somewhat of an understatement for some of the residents there

 nice one dude, it's not really that bad considering I have one shop being used for storage that is 40' x 40' and then my main shop that is 40' x 70'

ensquire 05-02-2011 11:16 AM

I f I lived anywhere near you in between Edmonton and Calgary, I would be overrun with tanks. I go through the for sale threads and just vibrate LOL

The Grizz 05-15-2011 03:06 AM

Short update, plumbing is now 100% done & tested, works exactly like I hoped it would. Skinned the sides & back with 3/8" birch, going to insulate the inside with 1/2" pink insulation. Bought some inexpensive LED panels from EBay for lighting, 225 LEDS per 12" x 12" panel 113 white 112 blue. Not really bright but I like the color. Hope to build the canopy tomorrow & do a quick timer/power supply.

Oxymoron 05-16-2011 03:58 AM

Soon as I get the canopy finished I will put I all together again for some shots.

Oxymoron 05-16-2011 04:18 AM

I can't wait to see it man, hope it turns out nice.
This tank is a beast in person by the way, the pictures don't quite do it justice.

The Grizz 05-23-2011 12:39 AM

Ok so here is a couple pics of the canopy I am building. The wife wanted a shelf above the tank so this is what I came up with. The tank will be sitting in a corner that is a PITA to put anything in.

Nice woodworking there Grizz!

lastlight 05-23-2011 01:19 AM

That's pretty cool. So the 'wings' will float off the sides of the tank or will there be cabinetry underneath?

Thanks Brett, no cabinet on the sides of the tank as I want to be able to see in through them. The whole thing will be fastened to the wall to keep minimal presure on the top of the tank.

fishytime 05-23-2011 02:53 PM

Wood work does look good mang!.....what kind of stain you gonna use?

Thanks Dougster, I am going to use the same color stain I used on the 8'er. It's a stain & urathaine all in one, color is Pecan to contrast the roof and floor in my living room.

Thanks bud, I am also thinking of doing the same thing with the wings on the stand once I get the tank complete & running.

Thing looks pretty menacing! So the rows of LEDs don't overlap? looks like you have a centered back fixture and then two flanking in the front?

I'm taking bets now btw on how long till this tank sees corals =)

Yep no overlap, the panels are 12 1/4" x 12 1/4' so I was unable to put all 3 in a row but I like the way the light looks with water in the tank. I was thinking of trying a couple of my leathers and a few shrooms in this tank but not 100% sure yet

The Grizz 06-20-2011 04:29 AM

Finally got this beast up and running. Still have to build and stain the doors and a couple small corner pieces that are going to house my ATO and salt storage.

I still call this a FOWLR Even though there are a few corals in it.

I was waiting for you to notice  I was up till 3 am trying to get this thing going and my biggest problem was my skimmer pump would not stay running. So I hope you don't mind me test driving your BK  you will be very happy with this skimmer, if they werent so pricey I would get one. I think I am going to get the 3 T1000's I have all cleaned up and running like new, sell them off and get a new Bubble Magnus or something.

Delphinus 06-20-2011 05:05 AM

Looks great Greg..
