1 Lettuce Nudibranch
5 blue legged hermits
10 turbo snails
5 margarita snails

I would avoid Margarita snails. I got some once, but they all disappeared.
I could still use uo to 12 Astrea Snails and the same number of Cerith Snails. I woulld also like to get a Fighting Conch, but I don't think J&L has them. If you are by the University you are close to me.

spikehs 01-19-2004 11:07 PM

is this still a go? or do you guys think its not worth it anymore? I am in as longs as its still cost effective.

impreza 01-19-2004 11:47 PM

how much is the shipping per person apprx?
i might be interested in about 10astrea and 10cerith and 10 blue-legged hermits...

spikehs 01-20-2004 03:58 AM

shipping to calgary is 45.50 plus any additional taxes...

is that per person?

spikehs 01-20-2004 07:41 AM

no, no, thats TOTAL... its one price for a cleanup crew.

impreza 01-20-2004 04:11 PM

OH, ok.
So how much is it per person? How many ppl are in this group buy?

spikehs 01-20-2004 04:36 PM

thats what we are trying to figure out... i think its 4 so far... so about an extra 12 bucks.

Bob I 01-22-2004 05:27 PM

Well I am staying in because I know it can work. In the past it worked best when one person took charge. I still want two dozen snails (12 Astrea, 12 Cerith)and one unit of Chemipure.

spikehs 01-22-2004 05:43 PM

well my cc is gonna be full, so whoever can put it on their card should take charge (no pun intended!)

whaase 01-31-2004 08:41 PM

Well, whenever it gets sorted out whi is doing the order, I'm in for a few things.

Walter

Hey Guys,
I would be interested in some conchs. J&L should seperately charge cards for the order. I did an order with Deb, and that is what they did.

Mike

mnoll406 03-26-2004 03:54 PM

Hey Guys,
I'm out. Found conchs at wais for $9.00.

Mike

spikehs 03-26-2004 03:59 PM

wow, were they the fighting kind? or queen, or something else? thats pretty cheap for fighting conches.

andestang 03-26-2004 05:47 PM

queens, at least the ones I saw last weekend.

Quinn 03-26-2004 06:03 PM

Someone should ask him if they're tank-raised or wild-caught.

Probably an excercise in futility. It is very unlikely you will get a correct answer.

mnoll406 03-26-2004 06:11 PM

Hey Quinn,
They are really small, about 1.5". I would think they are captive raised, but I should have asked.

Mike

spikehs 03-26-2004 06:12 PM

I thought ALL fighting and queen's HAD to be tank raised due to them being a restricted species? or am i mistaken...

Quinn 03-26-2004 06:14 PM

As far as I know, you can still collect fighting conches, Strombus alatus. But queen conches (Strombus gigas) all have to be aquacultured. Bob is probably right though.

Can we get a photo of these guys?

dhraako 03-26-2004 06:38 PM

I'd be in for 3 marg/turbo and nassa snails if this thing goes through..unless someone here knows of a cheap place in Calgary that sells snails...I won't even mention Picese...Gold's never has turf algea snails to my knowledge and I'm not to sure about Wai's..anyone have any info on this?

if not I'm in for J&L .. splitting the shipping makes me so much more interested

Just as a matter of interest for those who don't know, Pisces is completely redoing their salt water section, and it will take some time to complete. According to Mikey, it will ten times better..

Quinn 03-26-2004 08:38 PM

What does "redoing" involve?

It is a major project, that could take a year I guess. I never got into the details with him. The tanks are pretty much empty at this point (except for the sharks if anyone is interested..)

BMW Rider 03-26-2004 09:33 PM

I will be needing a cleanup crew for my new 125 once it is running and cycled, but that will be in a few months I suspect. I would be interested in this deal too if the timing works out for me.

dhraako 03-26-2004 09:49 PM

when exactly is this whole deal gonna go through? .. I was intersted in sooner than later..and maybe do another deal in a few months type idea (that'll prolly be when I'll need snail replacements anyway :) )

as for the lfs, it would be good to see then revamp and improve that SW section..its in dire need of repair :)

Quinn 03-26-2004 10:54 PM

"This deal" has been in the works since the start of January. At this rate there will probably be a Calgary group order sometime in 2007... unless one of you guys takes the reigns.

christyf5 03-26-2004 11:48 PM

This thread is pretty funny since the sale ended last month

dhraako 03-27-2004 08:15 AM

ohh in that case I guess a new one needs to start up real soon :)

spikehs 03-27-2004 04:54 PM

I'd be in for some stuff if someone wants to start a new one.....
