Imagine how easy it would be to force a gyre in either direction with the overflow there too. You speak of the glass arriving...are you building the tank yourself?
|

Based on what I've seen so far I'm suprised you guys didn't cast a steel plate right inside the house for the stand's top

Guess what I'm looking at right now???
19mm starfire glass! Have all the sides right now, tomorrow I will pick up my bottom and my one piece euro brace for the top. |
One piece euro bracing, this is going to be one awesome tank.
|
very nice

Well I knew this would be heavy, but never thought I wouldn't be able to lift it onto the stand by myself, got it into the basement and onto the spare bed. It can stay there for now. Tomorrow, I get the rest of the glass. http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/t...9/IMG_1664.jpg http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/t...9/IMG_1663.jpg |
Wow I sure hope we're not looking at the one-piece eurobrace or someone missed the boat  For one thing it's in two pieces and access will be really hindered with the bracing being a few feet wide.
|
Show off:biggrin:

one piece euro bracing man that must of costed a bit of $$$$ let alone the tank.

As for the euro bracing, it's not that expensive. Just had to do a bit of research, and talk to a couple of different companies. |
Well Bob... that didn't last long or was this the plan all along when you sold off your old tank.
oh and TIG welding in the house...LEGEN...wait for it... DARY :twised: |

but I do have the shop to build most of the stuff in then just tack it in place in the house. but I do have lots of welding blankets. Steve |

I agree with not using MDF either. Tends to bloat when wet and will not shrink back to the original dimensions after it dries. It will also lose its structural integrity.
Looking really good so far! |
Thanks guys, I have already bought 3/4" plywood to replace it, and have found another gallon of marine paint. I'll change this out. I have phoned and got my glass moved to Tuesday so I will not be in a rush to get the new top on.
Geez Doug, next time say something sooner! |
