Very nice looking tank. Jay does amazing work (I can't wait to finally unpack mine). Love all the Tangs in there...is there much fighting between them in that size of tank?

frizzo1983 01-10-2011 10:14 PM

You will be very happy with the quality of his work. No fighting from the tangs I was a little concerned about this myself but you just learn to feed lots. The orange shoulder is my favorite fish he is looking better the older he gets.

Don't know how I missed this thread...

Very nice, love the tank shape and the rockwork. Well Done!

silentcivilian 06-23-2011 04:43 AM

Ill have to take a peek at it when I drop in soon. See how everything is doing!

Damn my buddy does the best work in town. Cant wait for the new design. Will only be running 2 large waveboxes and the through the top return lines. More to follow

kien 01-21-2013 03:20 PM

I guess I need to start running the other way around the block. Also, keep your blinds open. Thanks :-)

frizzo1983 01-21-2013 03:31 PM

No problem just make sure my wife does not see you I would hate to have her say, look at that guy running I think you should get into that.

Delphinus 01-21-2013 03:34 PM

Looks great so far ... What is the size of the new tank?

lastlight 01-21-2013 03:34 PM

is this replacing the old tank or just another new tank? Old one was pretty unique can't see you parting with it.

Is Jay doing the work?

frizzo1983 01-21-2013 03:47 PM

Yes it is replacing the old one unfortunately but it's for the good we are expecting our first and the wife said if you want a new one better do it now. Tank size is 84"x30"x26h

frizzo1983 01-21-2013 03:52 PM

So that means the old tank will be up for grabs once the transfer is complete

frizzo1983 02-04-2013 01:59 PM

Started some plumbing I will be running 2 Waveline DC pumps for returns. Overflow will not be plumbed that low was just doing some measuring for strainers hopefully will be done plumbing by the end of the week.

Some plumbing pictures of the weekend I will be putting unions on the downpipes for easy removal and possible cleaning in the future. I will be finnishing the rest of the plumbing this week adding eductors to the return lines and painting the background ( Black ) adding a light rack. The official move of the tank will take place 2 weekends from now. I will be setting up a go pro to capture this enormous move project. Stay Tuned

lastlight 02-11-2013 03:01 PM

Looks great but is your overflow completely braced over? It looks like you cannot access it at all?

frizzo1983 02-11-2013 03:06 PM

It is pretty tight but I will be able to get in there hehehe I wish it was a little bigger but one of the returns was too close the guys cutting screwed up. I will just have to live with it I guess

91Atrac 02-11-2013 05:21 PM

This tank is going to be intense!

frizzo1983 02-11-2013 05:38 PM

Thanks I cant wait to get it up and running. going to try and keep up with the build posts better this time.

Agreed, I would throw up some egg crate to make sure no fish can get over. Talking from experience its more than an inconvenience trying to catch a fish in a tight internal overflow.

frizzo1983 02-11-2013 06:29 PM

Yeah for sure it will be running right to the top of the glass so nothing can get in.

kien 02-11-2013 07:45 PM

looking great Scott! Let me know if you need any help with that baby! And by baby I mean the Baby.

frizzo1983 02-11-2013 07:54 PM

Yeah sure do need help I will drop it off when it's born. You can get it eating popcorn right away.

frizzo1983 02-19-2013 02:52 PM

A couple of update pictures of the new setup almost ready to be put into service this weekend.

frizzo1983 02-19-2013 03:12 PM

getting pictures on here sucks I will try and post tonight

Delphinus 02-19-2013 05:23 PM

I fixed your img links for you .. hope that's OK.

That's an interesting manifold being so high like that. Any plans on how to remove the air buildup in there or just let the flow blast it out? Anytime your return pump is shutdown you're going to have a massive barf of air bubbles at startup.

frizzo1983 02-19-2013 05:50 PM

should not be any air bubbles when return pump is on and if I shut the pump down I have a main ball valve on each manifold so before I turn the pump off i will just turn the valve and no water will drain back into the tank. Reason why i did it this way is because I want full control over each return eductor, only way I could fit valves in without being in the way. They will all be covered with a cabinet anyways.

I will be using 2 Waveline 10000 DC pumps so we will see what happens, my friends tank is the exact same design and is one of the nicest I have seen for a soft coral tank. PS thanks for fixing the pics not sure why photobucket wont work?

kien 02-19-2013 08:23 PM

That looks sweet Scott! Coming along nicely.

frizzo1983 04-02-2013 08:19 PM

frizzo1983 04-03-2013 12:38 AM

Thanks it has been a painful road to say the least. But rewarding at the end

lastlight 04-03-2013 12:53 AM

Looks fantastic! With the high piles your sps will make some nice swim thrus underneath. Are all t5 bulbs consistent in their output per foot or do you find one of your fixtures brighter than the other?

BlueTang<3 04-03-2013 01:49 AM

Wow you got some really nice fish

Simons 04-03-2013 03:39 AM

sweet tank!

frizzo1983 04-03-2013 04:20 AM

Thanks guys light can be off a little bit that is why I'm going to try and get the 60" ati from blue tang hopefully that will help. Way more happy with t5 lamps over anything else so far
