I'm keeping a list...
Checking it twice.... Heh, starting to feel like Santa. Who's naughty? who's nice? Ken - BWA |
Hey Ken, Please consider my name on your list as well, for the maxima. One, pls.(At least! But one for now).
Lenny. |
I am ALWAYS nice :biggrin::biggrin:
|
Hey Ken could you put me down foe one of those clams. Thanks Alot.
Nolan |
ME TOO
I hope I am already on the list.... but in case I am not. Please add me.
Ken... how you gonna work this? Obviously you are bringing in "x" amount of clams. Are you positive that you can fill the desires of all? I don't and many others I am sure are not going to want something other than what you pictured. How are you ordering? Are you going to ask color preference so at least we can get what we may want? Or are there going to be enough that nobody should worry? |
From this supplier I will have up to 50 Maxima's, plus another 25 Derasa's and 25 Squamosa's.
I want to be fair to all, and already have them looking into another Cites for 2011 already. To be fair to all, it'll be first come first served, if I have too many requests, then I will limit quantities so as many hobbiests can have the pleasure of getting one. I am thinking I will auction one of them off with the proceeds going to charity. Ken - BWA |
Sounds good Ken, when you have a better idea of when they are coming in I would love to have an update so I can arrange to be there the day they are in and ready to go. I think the idea of an action is great.
|
Of course I'm in for both!!
Nicole:mrgreen: |
The Sqamosa's & Derasa's have been delayed 1 day due to airline space limitations.
We will be receiving them Friday. Sorry for the inconvience, Ken - BWA Cook Island Clams are still not due to later November, eta will be posted as soon as I get it. |
There are the following Clams up for grabs on Friday:
8 Grade "A" Squamosa Clams 2 Grade "B" Squamosa Clams 15 Grade "A" Derasa Clams Ken - BWA |
I would so love to have one of these clams but I am so not able to make the trip do to work issues
|
Squamosa's and Derasa's are in.
Picks on I can get them up. Sorry for the pic, was from a phone. http://www.blueworldaquatic.com/pict...lams/clams.jpg Taking holds on them now, will be released tomorrow. Ken - BWA |
Wow, I want me one of the Maxima's when they are in for sure.
How will they do with T5s thoughs? |
You got BLUE Squammies?? Awesome! Do you have some close ups of the blues and price? Dang, I haven't seen a blue Squammy in awhile.
|
I would take a small blue squamosa, Ken. How long would you be willing to hold it for me, if you still have one available. PM me with price please and if you could hold until the Cooks are in.
Thanks |
all of the blues have been sold... we have the little guys in the front two rows, the two far right in the 3rd row and I believe the two far left in the back row.
|
Can you post some close up pictures of the blue squamosa's for the out of towners who can't come and visit and see personally? I'd love to come but, ah, I can't. :(
Usually what's billed as a blue squamosa is in fact a maxima, but that's not to say that there's aren't squamosa's WITH blue, or a sort of bluish tint to the patterning. I'm always interested to see, one way or the other, so if someone could post top-downs of these (either in store in their new homes), that'd be awesome, please and thank you! |
I wanted one of them little ones but alas its not in the budget this time round.. oh well. save up for the next round i guess.
|
Tony, all the blue Squamosas are sold already! I asked Ken for some closer photos too (regardless that they are sold). Blue Squammies are indeed hard to come by!
|
Are the blues actually squamosas?
A couple of stores here got just about the same shipment (judging from the pictures) but I'm such a clam newbie I don't know the difference between kinds. I am picking up a couple this coming weekend, letting them settle a bit from shipping first before they get moved again. |
They look like Squamosas to me, but it's hard to say from the picture being so far away. Would be easiest to tell by seeing the bysal opening.
|
Squammies have really small bysal openings right?
|
This is the best I can do for you guys... kinda cliche these days, but sorry about the quality... phone pic! lol
BTW... whatever it is, it's easily my favorite clam so far. And for what it's worht, it looks exactly the same (shell and mantle) as the other clam that I have that I was told was a Squamosa... and it looks nothing like my Maxima. That said, please confirmn... I'd like to know! |
wow, looks great under your lights!!
|
Does look great. Patterning is indeed more typical of squamosa. As stated the true test is the byssal opening, squammies have them very small compared to maxima or crocea. Mantle and shell otherwise can be really similar looking.
Nice score! Man I hope some more of these pop up some day. |
Working on this supplier again, hopefully in about 3 weeks. Just after the Maximas.
Ken |

When are the Maximas due Ken? Did you get the quantity you were looking for? |
The Cook Islands will be 5-6 short, but there will be enough for everyone currently asking, plus a few more.
I may be able to keep one in the store DT Ken |

Yea feel free to hold it there until I make it in ha ha! All colors? And again.... arrival date known yet? |

Hey Ken just checking if you have an update on the arrival of the Cook Island clam's. I am super busy and want to make sure that I have the morning free they are available.
|
Any word on CITES for the Cook Island clamers??
|
We have the CITES in place. Just awaiting the clam supplier to release their next batch. I will probally be flying out there personally to pick them out.
Ken |
Oh really? Rarotonga? Or which Island? Raro is the only Int airport though...you will laugh when you see it. Gorgeous Island. Take pics! Good snorkeling because their reef is really shallow.
|
Actually only going to LA, not to the Cook Islands. The farm has an Exclusive contract with one of my suppliers.
Ken - BWA |
Oh well that's not nearly as fun. LA is disgusting - oh and scary as hell.
|
Are they still expected for the end of the month Ken? I don't want to miss out this time.
|
Soooo.. it is the end of the month.... any word on these mysterious clams?
I can't wait much longer Ken... :twised: Oh wait... maybe I can wait until the STORE TOUR!! |
Last update I received from Ken is that they are still coming but not sure when. Hopefully before the end of the year.
