So here are some pictures of my very hungry stonefish tonight. I ran outa my Hikari 3" silversides and the little guys from sally's dont leave him full and cause me a headache cause he latchs his mouth around my whole feeder stick. Shaking him off is difficult more so cause I worry about hurting him.

So here are updated pics of the big boy..

Great pic's

I tried a toadfish once but unfortunately due to his passive nature my grouper killed it  Personally I wouldn't try one in your tank.

silentcivilian 08-09-2011 09:46 PM

If they were the same size, id gamble it. But if smaller... id sit on it for awhile. He has been pretty well behaved of late. Last night proved to me he was the king of the tank.

While feeding the puffer or eel, your in a race to get food away from the puffer, or throw food at the puffer than quickly feed the eel... its a challange to fend of the garberator known as puff. But last night I took some silversides in my claw, and put them in front of the stone, the puff raced at the stone, then stopped dead.. and just stared at the food as if pondering.. "I know you are a little crazy.. but if you dont want it, I do.. so you going to take it.. hmm.. come on, make up your mind" then proceeded some slow cautious snags at the food. It was kinda fun to watch my puffer being cautious.

silentcivilian 08-24-2011 12:09 AM

So, with the puffer gone, its so much easier to feed, and to make everyone happy, I took a video of what I use when the stonefish in a tricky place.

Stonefish eats food

 So true it took me a long time to find the fish too. A few pic.'s back I was looking and wondering why there was so many pic's of rock and not of the fish

The video is cool but it's strange too as it does sort of look like a rock moving suddenly to grab the food. Pretty cool fish though

silentcivilian 08-24-2011 01:24 PM

Haha, it why I often refer to him as my ugly muppet. He is a very unique looking, behaving fish. I personally love having him, and dont mind the way my tank is so empty.

The trick to finding him is looking for his eyes, when he does burry up to his eyes in sand he is much much harder to find, the most ive spent looking for him in a 4x2 space is 14minutes.

Here are some updated shots of the big boy himself, and the new little S. Neglecta

someone has to adopt the ugly ones

silentcivilian 09-13-2011 02:46 AM

Haha, yup. But if I recall, you said my eel was awesome! This tank aint all ugly.

silentcivilian 10-23-2011 05:52 AM

Hey, so I was jamming out to breaking benjamin before I started a tank detox to kill some aptasia and flat worms. Everything went ok, no nuclear nitrate spike. So this isnt a last memory, its just another page in the book.

So here is a little somthing to show a update of my tank. Eel is a monster now, stonefish still hides alot, and yes, the first time I went to feed him, I couldnt tell which way he was facing, so my gamble failed and I learned his arse wouldnt accept silversides, but the other end loves them!

Click me to go to youtube! Gets my views up too

silentcivilian 10-28-2011 03:28 AM

Me, Click Me!

So im pumped about the new video of my stone, he actually was out, not hiding, got a nice close up.

Its been a tough bought this week with tanks, so ill provide some updates into the weekend when everything stable! So far, opccupants seem healthy.

lorenz0 10-28-2011 03:44 AM

I was expecting him to raise one of these

silentcivilian 10-29-2011 05:35 AM

Im working on teach him that trick. Then he would be totally bada$$!!! Ya! As of right now, he is just 99%.

silentcivilian 11-12-2011 05:19 AM

Ok, time for update via photos.. most of which are of the new, 24G JBJ cube predator tank.. Enjoy!

Haha, sometimes, yes. Only with the stone, since I changed the rock work, I wont see him as much, he found a new den. If order to see him, ill need a coraline scraper.. which dont exsist, they are called razors by hand, and thats too close for comfort!

But they do have their normal spots so to say.

The easy blade attachment fits on a mag float and they make razor scrapers with long handles.

silentcivilian 12-19-2011 05:30 AM

Still tricky, I only gave myself a small window in my topper for access... so I kinda shot myself in the foot there. So long handled razors just dont work in my current setup. :(

Some pics I deem worthy of posting.. I might clip a few out up above cause they are not as good as id like... but here they are!

So, for the last 2 and a half years ive been applying for a job with the government of Canada. Today, I got my contract and leave to the training site in Regina for 6 months. So this tank will be shut down.. for the time being, livestock going to Lorenzo.. who I have forced to keep his closed down tank running. So it sadens me to do this, but this thread is officially in shut down mode as per Jan 31st, for 6-10months till I can get somthing new going. Fire sale to start soon on equipment & corals.

Delphinus 01-12-2012 05:52 AM

Ah bummer you had such a neat setup but you seem happy about this opportunity so it must be something pretty cool. Good luck, hope to see you back at it soon down the road!

Edit: Regina eh. Hmmmmmm. Do you have to learn to ride a horse?

lorenz0 01-12-2012 07:22 AM

It's funny cause he probably will!

Lol there goes my shut down. Now I get the muppets moving in

fishoholic 01-12-2012 05:26 PM

Sorry to hear you have to shut down, glad you were able to convince lorenz0 to take them. Congrats on the new job :thumb:

Yes, they got along fantasticly till my heater blew up, and my tank shot down to 17, and everyone was burrowed but the frogfish.. and he passed away from shock.. so the expensive heaters arnt always the good ones. Luckily everyone else burrows and got under with the sand to stay warm till I got the temp back up with back up heaters.

silentcivilian 11-13-2012 03:46 AM

So only 20 more months till I might be able to setup a tank again.. count down begins..

here is my current project..

http://sphotos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...61319989_n.jpg

Till the end of the count down I will be stalking all of your tanks...
