So lately i have been thinking that my 3 hawaiin flame wrasse 1M 2F) dont fit the pans for my new tank..... thinking i would rather go with more smaller fish....mostley because i think the male would like a longer leash (bigger tank)....if you dont have more than 150 Gallons dont bother asking........
i am not going to post a price but will take offers.... i have a number i am looking for (cheaper than some websites retail) and if this number doesnt come to me than i will hang onto them... pains me to see them go but i think jack, terri and chrissy could use a bigger place... Please dont respond here if interested just shoot me a pm.. |
Well Kevin at RED CORAL came thru in a huge way for me.... i showed up the other day to grab a few things and he had a brand new nut and bolt for my vortec waiting for me.... Huge Thanks.... much appriciated.
For those who dont know i stripped the nut and bolt while taking it apart to clean it 6 weeks ago. |
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH the joy of new tanks. just spent 2 hours tryiing to get the very small valonia bubbles out of my tank that apparently hitched on some frags from my other tank.... LOVE IT... ALso removed a chunk of live rock as i didnt like the stuff it had growing on it... some red hairy looking algae that was just starting to take over that rock... it also had some small wierd looking things ( Hydroids?) that looked like they could grow to plague proportions.
And thus i plug away... getting good growth on my sps tho so thats a plus.. |
I noticed that nobody else is responding... but we are watching... :D I'm about to setup and am not looking forward to all the pains that come with a fresh setup but it's all good. Continue to plug along... we are still watching.
|
well the last couple days my skimmer has been going crazy....not sure whats going on but it just keeps overflowing.. i have taken it out and cleaned the whole thing and nothing... i thought my exit was pluged but no.... major micro bubbes in there aswell. its a euro reef 130..
any ideas????? |

I had the same problems. The pump on that skimmer is overkill. I put some blocks under it to raise it out of the water about 6 inches. It helps alot. If I was doing a lot of messing around in the tank I had to back the air and open the water flow wide open for a day. Then slowly open the air up and close the water exit valve. Also on a side note once you have it running with the air valve fully open. Remove the air valve as it plugs up with gunk for some reason. Lastly for the mirco bubbles I used a filter sock for a day or so to keep them at bay until the skimmer settled down. In hind sight I would have bought the same size skimmer with the smaller pump. Also despight the builder of that sump telling me I did'nt need baffles I would have installed them. If you need any other help just P.M me. Also some photos of the whole tank would be nice ;) |
thanks... i have alread raised the skimmer a bit.... the issue was reef epoxy.. i forgot i was mounting coral that day and the skimmer setted down by the next day..... thanks again..
side not i got all my flame wrasse put in yesterday and they seem to be iking the new home... 2more fish to go and the tank is pretty well fully stocked... all i need to drop in now is the potters and flameback angels... |

also the stocking is pretty well done ... the tank now holds. 3 hawaiian flame wrasse (2 male) 2 leopard wrasse (both female for now) 2 true perk clowns 1 potters angel 1 african flame back angel 1 pink streaked wrasse 1 purple fire fish.. i almost forgot him as today is the forst time in over a week i have seen him and 2 cleaner shrimp.. i want more inverts and maybe a couple small fish what do you think? |
WOO HOO I THINK MY HAWAIIN FLAME WRASSE ARE SPAWNING.... i had 2 famale and 1 male then a female turned male and is mating with the female.. the other male seems very dosile thus far and there is no fighting amung the males...
i just rescaped last night as i pulled out about 20 lbs of rock adn replaced it due to unknown algae groning on it.... |

|

yellow fin tominii tang and a ember blenny.. will add pics when they stop hiding... that ember blenny is OUTSTANDINGLY BEAUTIFUL.....black with red spiderweb coloring... get to red coral asap if you want one... |
welli the last 5 days i have pulled 4 fish out of my overflow... the current fish in there is one of my male flames... i am going to be selling him for 150 ... kien has first dibs as he ws the first to reply 2 months ago when i was going to sell this fish.. second would be the person who was going to buy all 3 when i was thinking of getting rid of them all . after that its up for grabs ..

How is your ember blenny doing? Is he eating good?
|
Looks good
|
*Original post: I'm just posting here so I can be the first post to comment on your 20ish pictures. :D
I'm jealous. Looks like your inverts posed for the camera... Did you have any issues with your clowns being over protective? Like nipping at your camera/fingers? |
and a couple i missed..
can anyone name the acro for me? http://i442.photobucket.com/albums/q...polypacro1.jpg http://i442.photobucket.com/albums/q...knownZoas1.jpg |

my hands used to be in the tank ALL the time... so my clowns are pretty used to my hands being around them.. my shrimp will climb on my hands if i let them... |
hmmm i thawt i added this a wek ago but i guess not... my ember blenny didnt make it so i added a tailspot blenny and then also a yellow assessor...
they blenny hid for a day and has slowly become the current surfer that he is now... the assessor however was out the first day (took a little harasment from my flameback angel)and now hasnt been out in daylight since.. he is very active at night and swims with all the other fish without problems... i wonder why he isnt out more during the day... |
Bummer about the ember. I've tried two before now out of the store and they didn't last a week. The one I have in my cube now though I bought from Carmen about a year ago. I don't know what's up with them, they must be really sensitive at first and then if they make it past that first little bit then they're reasonably hardy .. ?
Nice score on the tailspot though, those are awesome little fish. And those blue zoos made me drool a little. |
just stopped in at red coral and grabbed 20 lbs of lr to finish the left side of my tank.... i wont add pics yet as i am still unsure how much i like what i came up with... anyways if you are looking for some nice roock rc has some great jakarta stuff in right now... some GREAT flat pieces..
i will add pics when i am finished with the renos... |

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP
i was just about to goto bed when i heard my skimmer pump stop.... and well i took it out and cleaned it and i think its shot..... anyone have a sedra ksp5000 for sale..... ahhhhhhhh dam... its too late for this crap... |
well the pump fairy must have stopped by last night because somehow my pump is working today,,,, you gotta love when they fix themselves. not only that it seem sto be injecting more air.... well knock on wood...
WOO HOO |
Next time you do a skimmer cleaning take apart the pump and check the magnet on the impeller. Sedra's are one of the kind where the heat of constant use causes them to swell up and eventually they lose their shape from being a perfect cylinder to something that bulges out a little making it a tiny bit egg shaped. If you notice any deformities you'll have your answer. Luckily they do sell replacement impellers. I noticed I got about 18 months out of an impeller when I had Sedra pumps in use.

awsome thanks for the heads up....
|
looks like your yellow ass is getting rather comfy:mrgreen:
