Just wondering why the shipping costs are so high on such a small item shipped Canada Post? My shipping cost to Victoria is $14.35.

My guess would be because Canada Post blows and keeps raising its rates :) Pretty much killed my web based business (well that and the rising Canadian dollar)

This is exactly the reason, our website speaks to Canada Post and it generates real time quotes so we have no control over shipping prices unless our shipping weights are off. The shipping weight applied to this product is one pound.

There should also be choices on the type of delivery, for example, regular, expedited, and priority courier. Our experience is that there is not much difference between regular and expedited as far as delivery times so regular would be my choice if making a purchase.

The reason I ask is if I enter the exact same products into my basket for "other" online retailers the shipping is $5-6 cheaper without fail. I realize they aren't located in the Fraser Valley but I can only assume that they must be getting some kind rate discount.

Not sure why that would be but we will look into it for you. We have a business account with CP but are not sure what discounts are being applied if any for us.

Okay! Last chance to order your Checkers. We need to get our order in so we will be shutting down the group order tonight March 9th at 11pm.

I double checked the variability in cost just to be sure and to give you guys the benefit of the doubt, and your shipping prices are around 75% higher on average for the exact same items to an address equidistant between you and "another" online retailer in BC.

I checked the CP - API Module and it is calculating the shipping correctly based on an average box size of 30cm X 30cm X 30cm and calculated by the advertised or average weight of the item purchased. All items shipped include a $4.00 handling and packaging fee that is described on our shipping page. This fee is to cover such things as bubble wrap, boxes, tape, and labels. As time permits we will be adding other carriers to our shipping modules and will likely be able to be more competitive with shipping within our area, Canada Post is certainly not the cheapest shipping and likely the other vendors you are comparing us to are using various other carriers with commercial discounted rates.

I would assume you are happy with this explanation for shipping. If you are not satisfied with our shipping price then we would be happy to refund you the shipping fee and ship you your item collect.
