All I did was get rid of the stock current USA bulbs, I replaced them with

Blue+
75/25
fiji purple
Aqua sun

I'm going to Calgary next week end and planning on picking up some more bulbs and possibly another fixture so not sure if I'm going to stick with the same mix or add a little more blue.

andestang 03-29-2010 10:43 PM

If the pic is fairly accurate in color I think you could get away with a little more blue.

chris121277 03-29-2010 10:50 PM

It is, if I don't find another fixture then I think I may change out the figi purple for a blue+, but if I do find another fixture then........I have no idea..lol

Ugh, you guys pull this on my when I'm planning a new tank?

The (soon to be dismantled) 10 gallon... I didn't clean the glass, excuse the fingerprints and salt creep.

Thanks. I've been trying to figure out how to correct my white balance and exposure in my tank shots and here's a better photo:

Gorgeous tank Canadian

I'll post this one since I just moved everything to a 5.5 gallon. Much better... I'll be scraping this one religiously.

Great LR work. What method did you use to make it ?

I drilled the rock with a hole saw and secured it on a 1/2" PVC frame. There are a couple spots where I also secured rock to the PVC frame with cable ties (zap straps) in addition to running the PVC through the drilled holes.

How many pieces did you attach together? Using 1/2" pvc + holesaw is an excellent method

Canadian 04-01-2010 04:23 AM

I believe there are 6 pieces of LR there.

Here's some quick pics I just took of my 210g mixed reef after some minor reaquascaping. (Par of my avoid work strategy) Enjoy!

Very nice Anthony. One of these days I've got to get down to see the Yellow Tangtropolis in person.

Then & Now

Thought I would post a couple of pictures of the before and after. It looks good for only being up and running for 4 months.

Jan. 1, 2010 - New Tank with water & Rock only:

April 18, 2010 - Fully stocked:

http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...055_572614.jpg

I went from a 30 gallon reef tank that I had for 3 years to this 90 gallon setup at the beginning of this year. I thought it would take me for ever to stock a 90 gallon but now I wish I would have gone bigger as I am running out of room.

That's a pretty drastic change for only 4 months. Some of those large softy colonies would suggest a tank thats a couple of years old already. Nicely done!

project37 04-22-2010 05:35 AM

Thanks Danny. I had a few of the softies in my old 30 gallon for a few years and some of the others are from a friend that also had some in her tank for a few years. Best regards...Doug

Here is my 29G mini reef. Its not the cleanest in this picture, but I don't believe in being 100% clinical about it... I am about to upgrade to a 52G so I figure I better get this shot in

Just finished the move to the 52 Gallon:

nice tank how do you like your coast to coast overflow?

doobiej 08-19-2010 03:44 PM

its the only way to go. only downside is that 8 feet long you have to be perfectly level and I mean perfect. I wasnt. im out about 1/4 of inch. the floor was level when I started filling this thing, but 3000lbs will quickly settle. I built a 2x12 post and beam support system under the floor in the basement but I suspect that there was some compression on the floor sheathing itself under the hardwood. so my left side drains faster than the right side which leaves a slow spot in the middle which causes detritis to swirl and not drain.

other than that, c2c is the best system going. if I had room I would have done it behind the tank but inside it still looks good and works fine. my fish LOVE the 8 foot long swimming space.

it is not CPR overflow, i made a small box out of acrylic and since the bottom was tempered glass i can only drill on the sides. I drilled two holes in there for overflow..
