If it was up to me it would have a couple sharks in it. Not to mention how freaking much salt I would have to use..........can you say bankrupt anyone.

How many gallons is your pool. Cover charge a bucket of salt per person.

The Grizz 02-13-2010 01:58 AM

:focus:

Water tested sump and for a welder and a first attempt at acrylic I must say I even impressed myself.

12,000 gal's or so, I like your idea I would never have to by salt again. But not that cheep stuff it has to be Reef Crystals, :twised:

Chase31 02-13-2010 02:08 AM

and it is called acrylic welding is it not? so you as a welder should be able to do it.

ALBERTA REEF 02-13-2010 02:08 AM

Melting metal or acrylic same principle done with heat. Different heat temp. Ones with electricity and gas and the other is chemical. Seams have to be flawless for both. Your still welding. Great job.

The Grizz 02-13-2010 02:09 AM

Here is what it looks like under the tank:

The Grizz 02-13-2010 02:11 AM

Good point Chase and Cory, I guess it is some what similar.

ALBERTA REEF 02-13-2010 02:51 AM

So what are you going to do with the empty 3" of space on the left side. Frag tank maybe.

The Grizz 02-13-2010 02:59 AM

No that is where the overflow's are going to run into. Going to fill it with LR Rubble, the water will then run over baffle into refugium, then into skimmer 1, then into skimmer 2, then into dual phosban compartment & finally into return compartment that I think will have some more LR. Flow is clockwise.

ALBERTA REEF 02-13-2010 03:08 AM

oops. I meant the 3' space on the other side of the pump.

not sure yet, might do a dosing set-up down the road. I also have to find a place to put the 3' 30W UV I got with the tank. In the fisrt 6" of the stand from the left I am building a water proof electrical panel with all my shut off switch's and what not's.

Also have not decided if the pump is going to sit the way it is in the previous pic or turn it 90 degree's like this.

Reef_surfer 02-13-2010 05:01 AM

It will be a sweet set-up if it all works out the way I have it planned. Going from a 6' 155gal to this can't wait until it's done.

the marine apprentice 02-13-2010 07:36 AM

its really starting to look good greg.im sure glad we took that ugly silicone out of that tank though. it was really bugging me. haha.

tks for the temporary hex tank while im getting my new tank figured.

ALBERTA REEF 02-15-2010 03:25 AM

The Grizz 02-15-2010 03:35 AM

Nothing new to report, I have to get the bulk heads in so I can figure out the plumbing. Drill a hole in the sump for the retun. As soon as I get more done I will post some pic's.

REALLY NEED MY 155 BOW FRONT TO SELL SO I CAN FINISH THIS ONE AND GET IT RUNNING

The Grizz 02-15-2010 03:40 AM

Lights are to be shipped out tomorrow, should see them in a week or so.

ALBERTA REEF 02-19-2010 06:39 AM

The Grizz 02-19-2010 06:51 AM

Don't count on it. Your grand daughters will keep up all night.

The Grizz 02-19-2010 05:47 PM

They did that for sure running on about 3 hrs sleep today:yawn::yawn::yawn:

ALBERTA REEF 02-19-2010 09:04 PM

Ya but you wouldn't wan't it any other way.

The Grizz 02-20-2010 01:12 AM

I could have used a couple more hrs sleep but it was nice to have my girls here. Went add picked up some of the plumbing part's I needed today but not going to work on it tonight. I am now thinking of doing a closed loop on the tank as well.

The Grizz 02-21-2010 10:58 AM

So I think I am going to do a closed loop on this system using a OM 4 way & a pump with about 2500 gph. Just have to find someone who is willing & has the right size bits to come out to my place & drill 1 - hole for a 1 1/2" bulk head & 4 - hole's for 1" bulk head.

Going to do the plumbing for the overflow's, return pump & UV sterilizer today so I will add pics later.
