I know a few reefers in their 50s+ who aren't all that tech savvy. Sure they have email and surf the web but don't really participate in forums. If they did (forums) they are probably their looking for specific information rather than goofing around and spilling the beans on how old they are
I fall in the 10-50 demographic.. |
I'm 44 :)
|
21 here, started when I was 18.
|
Hi all.....Im 46 started salt water about 3 years ago....started with a small cube....then went to a 72 gal bowfront and added a 14 bio-cube in my office about a year ago....so have three tanks in total running now
|
I am 33, This will be my third year keeping a Saltwater tank.

I will be 26 in 9 days , been in the hobby for a little over 2 years now, fresh water since I was about 7-8 years old....... |
Hey Scott. Which part dont you beleive....?
|
I love the results here, apart from the 10-19 category, what an almost perfect Guassian distribution.
To be honest I'm surprised at the low #'s in the 10-19 category. That can't be indicative of the hobby, can it? I'm guessing it's really a higher percentage in the hobby in that age group but they're just disproportionately "not on Canreef" per se. It doesn't surprise me too much to see the highest numbers so far of people in their 20's. That makes total sense to me. I'm in the 30-39 category, and will be for a tiny little while longer (more than one year left in that category ) |

hahaha....your welcome to pop over anytime....just call first....now stop...I'm trying to work....lol

Better vote now since I've got a few weeks left before I move up to the next age category....

The flip side:
Sure there are more 20 - 29s in here than anything else but there are FAR more ppl over 30 than under it =) I'm riding the razor's edge. A cross-section of my wood reveals 30 rings though perhaps the tree anology is not the best. I realize there are some perverts roaming these parts. |

I too should be working. My deadline for some work is Monday yet I still am not very motivated and terribly behind. I will just tell the client I got a new skimmer, I'm sure they will understand. I think I have used the "oh my internet was down yesterday, sorry I couldn't contact you......oh my phone went through the washing machine so I couldn't call...I didn't have a quarter for a payphone cause I only use debit..." excuse too many times now :) |
If it makes you feel any better I'd def accept that excuse. Of course I'd also ask to come help you set it up.

I doubt the client would like the skimmer excuse. They are a law firm and don't seem to have a good sense of humor. It's been an interesting project. |

I'm 26, started about 6 years ago with a converted (from fresh) 72 gallon bowfront and a Seaclone skimmer. Just now tearing down the 120 I've had for the past 5 years as I'm moving places next weekend. Tank wise, I'm moving to a five foot 112 gallon (approximately) room divider (the place is small :)). I still have the same yellow tang (knock on wood) from the 72 gallon. If it weren't for him, I'm not sure I'd be setting up a new tank, but doing so has kept the interest going strong!

i am 26 been at this addiction for about 4 years now dont see my self stopping anytime soon

I'm 25 and been in salt with some help from my dad since '88. Undergravel and bleached coral skeletons were all the rage in the 80's! As many on this site, I too can't wait to upgrade either.

Wrong thread...lol
|
im 21 in febuary and started out with fresh water for about 2 years i had oscars that i trained to jump for food and i could pet them. got kinda bored so i set up a 10 gallon nano fowlr had that for 2 years then added corals and about 3 months ago i upgraded to my 30 gallon corner tank and can see a 55 that needs salty water ;)
