Thanks guys!!!

I'm not really dosing anything special, I run a zeo reactor with the zeo rocks, a phosban reactor with carbon, and my calcium is dosed via the home made 2 part system.
I also have a 5G pail setup with my RO top up water on a float valve(this needs refilling every 3 days) and what I find seems to be working for me right now is 1 fill is clean RO water, next fill will be a kalk/vinegar mixture(helps maintain calcium levels), and the next fill is 2 cups magnesium mixed with RO. Then the entire cycle starts again. I have been doing this for about 8 months now, and all I can say is WOW.

Anyhow......heres a couple more pics.

Tank is just incredible. Hope mine grows up and looks as good some day.

lastlight 07-15-2010 05:31 PM

Are corals all in same spot? It seems that there are diff corals in the same spots in the last shot but maybe it's the lighting and massive growth! Either way it is looking awesome =)

Is this M. Confusa? Some of the polyps look green...looks really sweet!

http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/k...y/DSC_7311.jpg

Canuckgod420 07-15-2010 09:54 PM

The majority of corals are in the same spot....just lots of growth, and of course several have been added as well.

that is either a confusa or horrida? Its 1 of my favorites. I'm gonna take some top down shots of the tank, that coral has grown to about 7 inches across.
Its all coming down in the next couple of weeks anyways so I guess I'll enjoy it while I can.

Frags anyone?

I wish I had my tank set up...

Canuckgod420 07-16-2010 12:01 PM

Your build is looking pretty damn good!

gobytron 07-16-2010 04:30 PM

there is just something about the 72 gallon bowfront that makes a really nice reef.
How your first one was never TOTM is beyond me.

A little harder to scape with only 16" at the sides but you really did a great job on the new new.

Looking awesome.

Just curious though, why did you axe the sand on round 2?

I just had a bit of a crash and am considering what changes to make.

Canuckgod420 07-16-2010 10:41 PM

I got rid of the sand because I was tired of not being able to clean the glass all the way down to the bottom. Also I wanted more flow and I didnt like the way the sand kept getting blown around, and now the detritus is so easy to remove.

The 72 bow only has 11 inches on the sides, 18 inches in the middle, making it a little tough to aquascape.

Doesnt matter though, its all coming down in the next few weeks anyways.

why is it coming down?

isnt this still a relatively fresh build?

Millepora_Maniac 07-24-2010 09:24 PM

Totally different growth forms from the halide growth patterns last time eh?

Canuckgod420 07-25-2010 02:38 AM

I love the t5's......
I do miss the shimmer though

do you have any pics of the guts.(sump)
what return pump are you running.

Canuckgod420 08-13-2010 11:47 PM

There really isnt much to my sump, skimmer, zeo reactor, carbon chamber, and 2 return pumps. Quiet One 4000 (return to display) Mag 9 (return to fuge and frag tank, and also branches off to chiller). No baffles at all and I still dont get any micro bubbles.

http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/k...y/DSC_8373.jpg
On a side note, I love my Euroreef skimmer, the skimmate in the pic is 4 or 5 days worth of the thickest goo, its so disgusting its beautiful ( I like to feed my fish really well).

Youngster Dan 08-13-2010 11:57 PM

Can I live in your tank? Well done.

Canuckgod420 08-14-2010 02:25 AM

thanks:lol:

Canuckgod420 09-10-2010 11:21 PM

Is there any interest in any of these corals?
I want to do a large pruning but I need for the frags to go somewhere.
Let me know.

rjudd2k 10-14-2010 04:05 PM

I know there hasn't been a post on here in a little while but I have a question reguarding the light fixture you are/were using. I'm interested in purchasing one of the Sun Blaze 48 fixtures for use over a 75 gallon SPS reef I'm building and am wondering, from your experience, what the pros and cons are to using this system on a reef. Appreciate your input very much as there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of folks who use this light setup. Thanks!

Canuckgod420 10-14-2010 11:26 PM

Pros:
Very bright with individual reflectors
very little heat transfered to tank
lots of bulb combinations

Cons:
no built in fans
no place to put a splash guard
and for some reason they built this light with the 2 switches so you can run it in 2 - 4 bulb combos, problem is, there is only 1 power cord, so all the bulbs have to run off one timer.

rjudd2k 10-15-2010 01:00 AM

Sweet! Thanks very much. From looking at it, I get the impression that, while there are better fixtures more suited to reefs, for what this one does have it's more than worth the cost. Your tank in this thread looks phenomenal and if that is any indication, I'm very excited about this fixture. Weird that they'd do two switches but one cord. Oh well, I guess it's still cool that you can shut off one half if you like. Could come in handy. Thanks for the info.

Canuckgod420 12-20-2010 06:07 PM

Its been a while since I last posted so here is an update.

Big news is I finally did a big water change (180 gallon water change to be precise)

http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/k...y/DSC_8773.jpg

Then yesterday I got a new addition to my new reef tank.

http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/k...y/DSC_8751.jpg

Very happy with the new setup:biggrin:

lorenz0 12-20-2010 06:59 PM

wow, you have some killer colors. tanks looking good

Canuckgod420 12-21-2010 12:11 AM

Thanks
Everything faded a little after the transfer from the 72, but things are really starting to look good.

My new atlantic blue tang has made himself right at home. Sure has a big appetite too!
