Very nice and congrats!!!
I see you also have a swallow tail angel. Does she have any faint vertical bars showing?
Lovely tank set up.
Cheers

thanks!

I really like my swallow tail angel :)
and I did not saw verticle lines, I think it's a female... the males is the one that has lines... I had one in the previous 265g tank but he comit suicide... a few days after introducing him in the tank it was so scare that it swim in a hole too fast and a LR feld on him... poor fishy

BC Mosaic 05-03-2010 05:47 PM

Yes, yours is a female. Mine looks like yours but it might be changing into a male (?possible?) because I can see shadows of vertical lines. Then again it might be stress/adjustment related because it is a new aquisition - yesterday!

josie 05-03-2010 05:52 PM

yes could be stess related...
I have mine for about 4 years now.. dont remember seing her stress

josie 05-05-2010 12:50 AM

josie 05-05-2010 02:44 PM

We are really happy with the new tang!
what a grerat fish! calm and curious :)

Delphinus 05-06-2010 02:52 AM

Great picture of a great fish! I find that as they get more relaxed in their new home they also colour up a bit. The blue rims on the fins on mine have gotten more prominent now that I've had mine for a few months.

thanks!
boy do it eats!! I give nori algea and it devores all of it in a few minutes... and it eats on the back glass algea too... a little pig!

josie 05-13-2010 04:57 PM

we are thinking of changing the skimmer ...
the bioload is quite large and Lieutenant tang eats like a pig lol
currently we have an octopus downdraft (we add a becket injector) but it's not strong enough ...
The orp was 330-350 and now it's more 300-310 since the new tang is in...

Just keep in mind that we want to pay more than 400$ ... therefore no bubbleking or 1000$ skimmers are out...
ratings should be 300/350g (the set up is 200g heavy load)
preferably in sump ...
the foot print maximum is 7.1"x10"

you have any sugestions?

Lance 05-13-2010 11:31 PM

Look into the Bubble Magus line of skimmers. Reasonably priced and perform well. The cone skimmers have a small footprint as well.

josie 05-18-2010 10:05 PM

So we bought a used ETSS600 skimmer for 250$ :)
if it's not strong enought we wil get the extension to make it a ETSS 900...

A litlle addition to the tank today, a pistol tiger shrimp:

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...0g/pistol1.jpg

really hope it gets along with the yellow watchman we bought last week... or with the blue-spoted we also have... ;)

josie 05-25-2010 02:30 PM

new pics for the tennenti tang!
got some scratch but is in great shape! :)

good news! a friend is going to let me use his camescope to shoot some videos of the tank!

josie 06-11-2010 06:50 PM

some updates

we observe that the sps were not extending their polyps that much last week... water tests were all good... so we decided to do a big water change (30%) and everything is doing better now... ORP got from 315/320 to 400...
maybe some colonies got some chemical out that affected others..
the mysteries of reef keeping!

after reading many positive things about biopellets we decided to install a reactor to try it out... we bought biobeads (less costly then the biopellets) that arrived today and we will install everything this week-end :)
I'll keep you posted about this

josie 06-18-2010 01:50 PM

some pics of a 30% water change (every 3 weeks it's a 15% water change usually)

Skimmer

Fantastic tank, looks really good!!!

I am curious to know what you think of the new skimmer and what pump you are using on it. I have a 900 and have mixed feelings although i suspect part of my problem has been the pump.

I would welcome your thoughts.

Thanks

Steve:biggrin:

josie 06-24-2010 03:33 PM

for the moment we are still with our octopus downdraft...

Zoaelite 07-12-2010 04:36 PM

Looking good Josie! Do you ever have any problems lowering your water level like that for water changes? The last time I did a water change like that all of the coraline algae out of the water bleached on me and I lost a stupid amount of color from a few acros.

josie 07-12-2010 04:45 PM

yes coraline that was out water died but it come back after.
No sps colours changes after big wc... the sps that have lost colours in you tank after big wc they were out of water for how long?

I had the impeller on my return pump break at that exact time so they were sitting out for about an hour and a half. Everyone is regaining color now but I'm afraid to do my water changes like that.

an hour and a half is long, could explain the colour loss, too much stress. glad it came back.

Greenmaster 07-15-2010 05:32 AM

Tank looks great. Love the pics :D

abcha0s 07-19-2010 04:43 PM

If my tank ever looks like yours, I will be thrilled. It looks great!

lastlight 07-19-2010 05:00 PM

Love that massive monti. Looks like a drop of water hitting and splashing back up the way that one tendril extends out. Beautiful tank!

josie 07-20-2010 01:10 AM

We have a clonwfish couple in our reef tank and we knew they were reproductive pair because the previous owner had seen eggs several time. It's the first time they reproduce in our tank (we have them for almost a year now). :)

a pic (sorry I dont have a macro lens!) the eggs are in the circle I draw...
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...150g/oeufs.jpg

too bad we are not equip to keep the eggs to hatch... :(

Greenmaster 07-20-2010 01:12 AM

Congrats! (if nothing else it's some free healthy fish food )

I dont really dose anything!
I do 30% water change every 3 months and 10% WC each 1-2 weeks...
I use instand ocean salt.
For the past month I just started a biopellets reactor... because it's supose to controle cyano outbrakes.. for now the cyano seems to have slowly disappeared...

the biobeads reactor works good, the cyano is under control. corals are looking great!

we add 2 lawnmower blennies last week-end. They already started eating the algea

Parker 08-04-2010 02:21 PM

Wow! I somehow missed this thread. Beautiful tank!

Skimmerking 08-04-2010 03:28 PM

Josie love your tank. the Cardinals what are they called do they get along with the Bangii's you have. im leanding of getting rid of the tangs the sailfin, kole, and Orange shoulder and getting reef fish like them, i have dartfish too and bangii, clowns smaller fish

josie 08-04-2010 03:51 PM

thanks Parker :)

thanks SkimmerKing :)
the small cardinal are glass cardinals (Apogon leptacanthus)
it's one the few reef fish that leaves in shoal, so the more you have the more interresting they are!
we used to have 6 but just 2 survived (we got them in our previous 265g tank, we had lots of problems with that tank so we lost 4  )

josie 08-07-2010 08:08 PM

This is my first video!
Please dont be too critic about it.. I have no notion of film making and even less of video editing!
a friend lent me his little MP4 video camera and I made this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSChnr92orM

I dont know how to insert the video in my post!!!

abcha0s 08-07-2010 08:51 PM

Nothing to be critical about. Your tank looks awesome!!
